Russia delivers nuclear threat to Denmark, NATO concerned

I wonder if Russia's and their politician's rhetoric was like this during the Cold War.
The balance of power and MAD kept the world safe for decades during the cold war. With new advanced anti-missile technology Russia will feel threatened when they have a lesser strike capability then the rest of NATO, when Russia becomes surrounded by a NATO anti-missile shield it will become more dangerous as it knows the united states has more of an incentive to launch a first strike in the event of all out war with any NATO nation.
This is what nuclear disarmament and anti missile technology has brought us, making it more tempting to push that little red button bit by bit.
If NATO could stop being concerned and actually do something useful that would be great
plz russia
what did we do to you? we dont want no trouble
:(
Nuclear threats are the worst
can we please fuck off with nuclear threats already?
Is it true that Danish people have potato's lodged in their throats?

Protocol 1 of the Geneva Convention forbids that civilians are harmed in armed conflict. I know few ways to harm as many civilians as detonating a nuke.
imo even threatening something that vile should be against Geneva.

Can you even uphold Geneva against Russia?
I'd take some Russian's ambassadors statements on this matter with a pinch of salt.
Is this threat disproportionate or fully justified?
Are you serious here? A more overblown threat I have never heard.

I'm thoroughly-convinced that the kinds of idiots who threaten nuclear war lack even the foggiest clue of what a nuclear bomb is and does, as well as the consequences of using one. They probably just assume it's a big, mean bomb with a nasty reputation, rather a horrific weapon of mass destruction that's the first stone thrown in a global armageddon scenario.
They also most likely think they'd survive the worst case scenario of global armageddon, wealth and power intact, lives as cushy as ever. Instead, they'd be desperately trying to survive between the radiation, the remaining natural world and the still-living common people who want their heads on pikes as punishment, assuming they weren't just vaporized in a bomb's blast radius before then.
That level of sheer ignorance really wouldn't surprise me from these sorts of people, honestly.
What kind of shitty ambassador does something counter-intuitive to diplomacy
A Russian one who's a big fan of using fear as a negotiation tool
What absolute fucking moron would actually ever consider the use of a nuclear weapon.

Nothing of value was lost.
Wait...what? That seems to make sense to me. Denmark is a member of NATO, and it's not irrational to believe that Denmark's missile-defense systems would be used in conjunction with other member states to guard against a hypothetical Russian attack. Therefore, that would put those systems on the target list for a hypothetical Russian attack.
Besides, it's just a dumb op-ed. Nobody should care what the Russian ambassador to Denmark has to say on matters of nuclear policy. He's not in the loop. If he was important, he wouldn't be the ambassador to freakin Denmark.
Oh, fuck off, Russia.
aw cmon, freekin denmark now?
what next declare switzerland a primary target?
Portugal is next ofc.
They gon take away muh codfish
Russia is becoming the new North Korea.
The commander of the great peoples army will arrive in Moscow to view said missiles in may. I think there may be some correlation between that event and this nuclear backed threat.

Russia doesn't like the Missile Defense system, so they again and again remind us of the need for it

Except for the fact that they actually know how to use ICBMs.

Krushchev did a lot of this when he was leader of the USSR during the Cold War. IIRC, he made a speech to the U.S. that said something along the lines of "We will bury you".

That's a Russian idiom, it does literally translate as "we will bury you" but more in the sense of "I will attend your funeral". Idiomatically, it's closer to "your funeral, pal" than "we will crush you".

I really don't think it's necessary to call them out in every thread related to Russia, not anymore at least

Geneva convention doesn't mean much when you're talking megatons of nuclear weapons and mutual assured destruction, the geneva convention can only ever be enforced retroactively, and if nobody's alive to prosecute then its useless

I don't think they would justify that, they'd probably just either say this guy is a nutter and isn't a reflection on the nation as a whole (which has been said in this thread by non-russians), or that a better defense system destabilizes MAD and that is a threat, on top of the point that has been made by other non-russians in this thread that it makes sense that a new piece of a nuclear missile defense shield would then become a higher priorty target than before when it wasn't a piece of the missile defense shield, or they just won't post at all because they're tired of getting dumb ratings, hatred, or even just flatly being called a shill by people who haven't read the content of their posts, even if they are saying what is happening isn't really great at all, or if they even just state the obvious and say whatever happens to be "news" during Putin time isn't really news at all.

And what the fuck do you want NATO to do? Invade Russia?
