calling it, he's going to totally transform into a democrat after he is nominated leaving the 2 big options being 2 dems
um thats not how politicians digivolve and you know it
heh, I want to see what all the trump supporters who also supported torture will say now. Will they stick to their point that "torture is good", despite pages of arguments and facts against that, or will they flock to trumps new stance on this, as if nothing happened?
Wystan appears to be sticking to his "torture is good" beliefs. I guess Trump's pro-torture rhetoric has done its job.

People like Wystan were pro-torture anyway, all Trump was doing is picking up those votes.

Well that explains why Trump couldn't turn down the KKK's support at first.
Why isn't Trump's slogan, "Anything for a vote"?
And tomorrow he'll say that he won't actually build The Wall.
Or at least not force Mexico to pay for it.

Because stealing Ronald Reagan's campaign slogan was less work.

Because that's hillary's.
So now that Trump is moving into less red necked territory, his stance on violating the Geneva convention and international law in general have reversed....
Ya he's totally a man of his convictions like every Trump supporter has said

I really hope this damages his campaign and shows the light to the world of who he is.
If the majority of Trump supporters are like what we have here on FP, a lot of them are going to feel disenfranchised.
[editline]4th March 2016[/editline]
Of course the ones here won't because they have the maintain the appearance of supporting. The only thing worse than a politician flip-flopping is an internet user flip-flopping.
Usually, I like it when a politician changes their mind sincerely after being presented some new information.
Donald Trump is not that honest or serious.

Don't get your hopes up, Hitler's nazi party reversed it's positions too and it only made them goosestep harder

I don't think most people (on the forum) look at Trump and say "this guy is great", rather they view him as the lesser evil of those likely to be in the general election.
usually fat white lump is the first or second poster in a trump thread. strange how he hasnt shown up yet haha
This is the first time I've been watching the whole presidency thing in you-es-eyy and holy fuck it's just keeps getting more and more reality show-like every time something happens
this is the most batshit insane election I've ever witnessed

Maybe he tried to rationalize it and his head exploded from one doublethink too many.

My theory honestly is that Trump just wants to dick around for attention because he can and running his TV show probably got boring. I don't think he genuinely cares about becoming president, I think he's just fucking with people for fun.
This poster listed the best possible outcome, assuming sanders loses the nomination:
I'm betting he chooses a reasonable VP, and on his inauguration day he says "It was all a joke. You people are sick, twisted, racists. I'm resigning so my levelheaded VP can be president"
The VP comes out and says
"Trump; YOU'RE FIRED"
Granted If he does win he'll probably just start fucking with other countries for fun at that point. Anyone ready to constantly violate Russian airspace for giggles? Also he probably would do his best to build some ridiculous wall just because, he would probably spend a ton of time changing wall designs to his liking. "Ehh, I'm bored of the style we used for the last 20 miles, let's go for steampunk for a while, then sci-fi after that."
Like, honestly I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever if this is all just a game to him.

You haven't seen some of the Trump posters here then.
Only delusional Bernie supporters see Trump as some kind of lesser evil, actual Trump supporters are for him because of Trump, not being against Bernie or Hillary.
TBH at this point I wish congress has some sense in them but past shows there's not any. Why I'm worried? who's my neighbour.
All that fear mongering aside I'll still move the fuck away from here the first chance I get because we're doing worse than greece right now
People should expect more of this the closer we get to November.
People that dont realize this has been part of Trumps plan his entire time he talks about this technique in one of his books. I forget what its called but hes been doing it in business forever. The point is to make YOURSELF seem the most extreme or ask for the most extreme. The point is to set a purposeful unreachable target that he KNOWs would never go through or propose something SO crazy that the people involved are just like "No no no no, thats too much, but what about this?"
Im fucking retarded when it comes to business so this example is very simple and probably wouldnt work but gets the point across I think. Lets say Trumps looking to close on some realestate, HE wants 1,000,000. He knows in his head thats already lets say $300,000 more than he SHOULD be getting for it.
Instead he asks for 5,000,000(knowing he wont get it), the buyers get all flustured at such an outrageous asking price.
Now you ease them back, and back, and go from that extreme number back to a more reasonable one but in your favor, and they would be WAY less likely to refuse because when you are asked for 5,000,000 but then able to buy for only 1,000,000 you think you just got the deal of the century.
The way hes using it in politics is genius honestly.
Hes baiting ALL politicians running, but very focused on the GOP right now(for obvious reasons)
So he said the MOST extreme shit about the torturing that night.
Now notice hes one of the more moderate and sane on the EXACT same issue, while his co-runners could very easily sound WORSE than he does now.
Hes the TOP Repub right now, so he leads by example. If he says the most extreme shit, the others will see him and think "Oh shit hes onto something but hes too far gone, but I gotta get close and snatch up people hes getting with this"
So they get a little extreme themselves, or say stupid shit, and then Trump just easily goes back on what he says because hes one of the few running right now with 0 SHAME on doing that, while others are.
So someone liek Ted Cruz can be stuck looking more extreme and an idiot vs Trump even though just a week ago Trump would look the worst.
Trumps doing this because none of his flip-flopping matters right now. No ones gonna give a shit in November that "TRUMP WENT BACK ON HIS TORTURE STATEMENT!"
In fact, when thats done in a headline, it works in his favor because it sounds 10x better. Thats his plan and its working because everyone takes the bait, both the Repubs and the News.
that's basic haggling, m8
that's basic haggling, m8
Ya but you don't have a hundred million, so you don't have any credibility.
That's how he sold trump-U, there's no secret to real estate, it's having enough money to buy in the right places to start
that's basic haggling, m8
Its a bit different from basic haggling. But yeah it boils down to haggling. But using it in politics is pretty damn smart.
Morally supporting a thing that is illegal is not the same as actively doing the illegal thing or even advocating for a law in favor of the thing (see: reclassifying marijuana as <Title I). Moderates hedge on Trump expecting that he won't be able to get even half of the crazy shit he talks about into law.

Imagine supporting a presidential candidate whom you have to actively hope doesn't follow through on his campaign promises.

"I am voting for Trump because he'd make a great president as long as he long as he does none of the things he said he wants to do."
growing up as child i used to entertain myself by water boarding myself and I turned out alright, except now when ever I see any form of water I piss myself and start confessing all my lies
If Trump is pulling a massive long-con and turns out to be yanking the GOP's chain the entire way to the bank I'll gladly look that man in the eyes and shake his hand if I ever get the chance. No hard feelings at that point, the man would be a fucking genius.
"Its just a prank bro" - Donald Trump shortly after becoming president.
Surprised Fat White Lump hasn't entered the thread yet.
And tomorrow he'll say that he won't actually build The Wall.

The moment Trump says that is the moment we all know his campaign is nothing more than a smokescreen for his real intentions.
