Ohkay then mr-cutting-christmastrees-is-treath-to-the-biosphere.
the hell would you pay that much money for some artificial lawn, a frame, and some lights

One group that has been set up is called 'We don't care about health and safety, Poole needs a proper Christmas tree' and has been inundated with 3,250 members.

You can tell that these are completely rational people we're dealing with.
We don't care about health and safety, Poole needs a proper Christmas tree
There's probably a few better ways they could've said that.

Fucking hell, I had that REALLY bad during my time with Meteos. I swear, I couldn't fucking think of anything else. Every time I closed my eyes or blinked, I saw the blocks sliding around. I saw them matching up and rocketing away. If someone was talking to me and I closed my eyes even for one second, I would completely lose the conversation because my mind was filled with blocks.
Thank fuck I 100%'d that game so I never have to play it again.
this is why we can't have nice things. :frown:
I think that it's stupid to cut down a tree just to put lights and plastic shit on it for few weeks, then throwing it out as a waste problem.
Uh anybody who has lived within a mile of a large lumber producing forest knows that these trees find a very very happy home inside your walls, below your floor, above your head, in your subfloor. Trees NEVER go to waste buddy. If nothing else they make great fire wood.

You've no idea what you're on about. No tree is unworthy of the lumber industry. If nothing else it can be ground down and bound with adhesive to form plywood. Lumber is probably the most recycled building material on the planet.
But it's astroturf, so you can unroll it and play football on it when Christmas is over.

Well here where I live people just steal the trees from some random forest and then throw it away in the trash.
It's just a symbol, people. Calm down.
Now I don't like the tree, I prefer natural ones or at least fake ones which look real (that's what I use). But for fucks sake it's a christmas decoration. How can people take it so seriously and be such dicks about it. The council put the tree there to celebrate christmas and everyone had to go and rage like assholes about it.
They should be ashamed of themselves for turning what was an attempt to keep a christmas tree of sorts (the council made the effort to put in a tree-like decoration which complied with regulations for the people) into a conflict.
Some poor guys in the council who chose that tree thinking it was nice are now feeling like shit over christmas. Fucking bastard vandal shits.
RAGE AGAINST THE TREE!
Really though, I can't blame them. I'd probably be part of the movement if I lived there.
I saw this on the news the other day, didn't think this would happen.
I laughed at the "likened to something out of Dr. Who" comment, because it made me think of a giant traffic-cone Dalek with lights.
Holy fuck I used to live near there.
"was chosen instead of a real tree this year because it is less likely to topple over in high winds."
Is it so goddamn hard to keep a tree upright? You know, there is some place where the trees stay upright in almost every wind apart from a hurricane. What is that... Oh yeah a forest.
Rebar the goddamn tree or something if you can't keep it upright otherwise.
There aren't even high winds in Poole.
Seriously, I think the highest wind there was when I lived there was probably 25 mph.
I looked at the photo first before realising I've been there. Scary. That's the Dolphin Shopping Centre, I was there the other day. Didn't see the tree though, must have been before they put it up.
Random fact: The man who invented the internet was from Poole. Except he invented it at CERN.
I like my town's tree.
Half a telephone pole with strings of lights stretched down from it in a cone shape.
It's just a symbol, people. Calm down.
I don't think it's the fact that it's not 'good enough,' I think it's the fact that it's a fucking eyesore.
Also, here's a real christmas tree!

what the fuck is going through the minds of these goddamn stupid idiots
Who knows. Maybe they really were planning on turfing over the concrete after christmas.
Wat
Who the hell would have this
They expert upside-down christmas trees to the shivering isles last I heard.
For those interested, they have taken the tree down and replaced it with a real one, just with a huge barrier around it.
