First time I've heard of a failed Google endeavor.
Buzz?
I thought the concept was good, and I wanted to try it but I never got in to the beta.

Oh "God" now I want it back already :gonk:
I've never heard of it until now.
"Hey our movie had bad interest even though we only run it in one back-alley theather and the guy in charge of marketing is drunk in a pub trying to ramble a review off to a dog. So we're shutting it down."
Good, I didn't like it.
I've used wave for collaborating on projects before. I'm sad it's gone now. I'm not sure why anyone would be happy for it to be gone, nobody was forcing anyone to use it.
I'll actually kinda miss this, it was a cool project notes tool for working with a team on a site/application.
Meh, I prefer to use Groove for shit like that. [editline]12:25AM[/editline]
Buzz?
Buzz was somewhat successful. Google was thinking too experimentally for social networking though.
How will I share my pics, random maps and all that stuff now?

It would show the world who was in your email contact list or something. Haven't heard anything about Buzz since, but I know it's still around.
What the hell is Wave? I hope for a "Google abandons YouTube"
What the hell is Wave? I hope for a "Google abandons YouTube"
why the fuck would google abandon youtube
Sorry, it did suck :| [editline]07:08AM[/editline]
why the fuck would google abandon youtube
Regular youtube, hurr durr
Youtube is AWESOME. They are just improving it the wrong way. Google Wave is awesome. Just everyone is not going to switch from their current set up to something brand new.
Why not just put all Wave's special features into Gmail?
Aw, now that I know what Wave can do, I want it back now. :(
They should have at least ridden wave out a little longer. It was pretty cool
I liked wave :frown: I would have used it more if I had more people to use it with, though it was always going to fail when it came to the number of people who were using it though.
Shame, was really useful when I worked on a project with a friend.
what the hell was it supposed to be anyways when i tried it out all i saw was a clusterfuck of shit
I guess the most basic description is multiplayer Word, with widgets like polls and maps They basically asked themselves "what would e-mail be like if it was invented from scratch today" It was sort of fun to muck about with [editline]09:07PM[/editline]
Why not just put all Wave's special features into Gmail?
I doubt that would work, unless you mean waves and emails as different areas of GMail. They're incompatible - one is a standard system of sending bits of text around the internet, the other is Google's fancy multiplayer Word thing.
Only time I ever used it was with a few facepunchers so we could plan secret strategies for online risk
:what:
The problem was that wave was a realtime e-mail service really. The people who would actually use it though, were not on the computer constantly to notice the updates fast enough, so it was just another email service.
I do wonder if Wave would have been more/less successful if it were someone other than Google that made it, like some independent web developer.
It was way too situational, useless unless you were working on a advanced collaberation. Shame to see they abandoned something that had so much potential.
Google Wave is very useful as a collaboration tool, and I used it with a friend during the beta. I liked it, but it's hard to make it replace normal email and IM.
I never understood what was so special about it.
