True, but the price is.
Performance > price IMO
Unless it's a GPU then I try to balance it, and besides I spent only about 150 bux on my i7 950 which will trump an AMD processor in most things.
My dad's new custom build has a sandy, bridge. I would tell him about this but he gets a new computer about every 2 years so hopefully he won't get any problems. Unless it's only prebuilds, he used a motherboard by Gigabyte if that helps.
It really depends, nobody can give you a definite yes or no.

So? My 4 cores kick the shit out of your 6 cores so I don't see your point.

That all depends on the rest of your system as well. In raw CPU power Im still ahead :smug:

Core 2 Quads wont be obsolete for awhile. (If you have a good mobo)
My e8400 is on the brink of extinction :C

Mine was one of the last to be produced before Intel stopped making them.
It's pretty much essential for Intel to fix the problem now, which is why it's such a big deal. Within three years, it's estimated that ~5% of those motherboard affected will have a failure relating to this problem in additional to general hardware failure and since Intel are fully aware of the fault they would liable to replace the broken hardware even if it is no longer in production. By halting distribution and fixing the issue now they save themselves and their customers a huge headache in the near future, even if it is going to cost them up to $700 million.
You're right, and I get that. I feel like the article makes it seem like a much larger issue than it is though. That's my opinion though.

It's a big deal for them money wise but I have to agree, the article is making it seem like a bigger deal than it really is.

I mean this issue will take some time to fix so, lets just wait and see how bulldozer perform.
They'll recall the ones people have bought already, undoubtedly.

I am pretty sure it was the Malaysia plant that got partially shut down because they were spitting out shit chips. Somehow some got through and that caused the recall. At least intel does not print off thousands of chips then locks cores on processors that fail tests because of manufacturing defects.
Still fine with my C2D E6600. Runs new games on medium to highest. I'll be switching to Sandy Bridge when they get fixed sometime in April.
ITT: AMD fanboys party (with water and white bread because AMD can't afford anything else).
No seriously, it's not like stuff is going very well for AMD either.

No, just someone with common sense.

Common sense and logic are not allowed when talking about hardware or software companies, you are either a fanboy of one or the other.

ATi used to be the top dog, and then AMD bought them and shit went down hill. Ever since then ATi has been trying their damnedest to get back on top only to have their name taken away.

What are they :smug: about?
Probably the fact that their chipsets don't melt sata ports
