Whaler, activist ship collide again off Antarctica
The whalers are legally killing the whales, the activists are just butthurt that they might possibly eat whales which are caught for research.
Personally I don't give a shit, the Japanese can eat/catch whales if they want to.
It's completely illegal. They just do it under the guise of research, which is legal under the same law, but the whales end up being killed for food and overfished anyways. Norway and Iceland do the same thing.
Lol you don't know anything about this. They aren't caught for research at all. It's all just a cover. killing several hundred whales a year definitely isn't research. And yes all of them go to market to be sold.
Ninjad.
They must have gotten that sinking feeling when they collided.
I don't see what they're trying to accomplish.
The whale is already dead, at least it can be eaten or used for research. If you spoil it with that acid shit then the whalers have no choice but to just dispose of it, probably by dumping it over the side of the hull.
Besides, the Japanese have more ships, and their government doesn't care.
But then again playing bumper cars with a huge whaler would be fun :v:

They're allowed to do it
on the Japanese expedition, noting that it is allowed under world whaling restrictions as a scientific expedition
Even if it's not actually for scientific purposes they're legally allowed to catch them. As I said before they're legally allowed to catch them.
Someone should do something about these nuts.
wait, which one?

It's true that the activists have very very little effect on the whalers. That's why i see it as pointless
The clash caused No. 3 Yushin Maru minor damage
I know these over-enthusiastic activists are at fault here, but I'd be more concerned about the damage done to the tiny activist ship, not the massive whaling ship.
The Japanese really need to start sinking more of these fuckers. They always provoke them, they throw flash bang grenades in one episode and they're absolutely screaming and crying because they started to throw them back and shoot at them. No shit, you're throwing grenades at a boat in international water you dipshit, they're defending themselves.
I'll bet everyone will walk off with a whale of a tale to tell.
Oh and the whalers really should carry anti-ship missiles. Great "deterrent".
I guess the activists were waleing after this incident.
Those whales must have been a whale of a whale.
[editline]09:46PM[/editline]
Wait.
[editline]09:47PM[/editline]
Whale.
What an eggsquisite story!
:bravo:
Damn. With all these ships crashing together this season is going to be a lot better. The show needs more of that, especially if they want ratings to go up, which I'm sure they were already because people baww over whale killing.

In all seriousness, when two ships get close it creates an area of low pressure between the two ships and sucks them in together. Though this has never happened until now with Sea Shepherd, who get as close as possible to the ships in order to throw their shit at them. I need to see the video before I can say whose at fault.
Well I can see how that could happen by accident. Antartica being such a popular and crowded destination afterall.
Just kidding, I guess it does seem a little fishy. I'm sure the relationships between the two groups were already pretty slippery, and the internation community always treats the japanese government pretty frostily after they happen.

Buteric Acid -which is harmless- not flash bangs, the Whalers threw the flash bangs because they thought they were being pirated, which they have the right to do.

They actually do some damage. They stop them from killing the whales pretty much by buzzing around them and annoying them. If they are unable to kill the whales, the have done their job. Last season you only saw the Japanese bring up two or three whales. That's when Watson got "Crazy Eye" so to speak and rammed the Steve Erwin into the whaling ship as they were trying to transport the corpse to the factory ship.
The dumb activists don't realize all they need is a giant 1980s consumer satellite dish (one of those 8 footers) to direct the LRAD back at the japs. The sound can be directed back very easily.
That's actually a good idea, damn.

The Japanese whaling operation is widely frowned upon by the IWC (International Whaling Commission) due to it's highly questionable way of business. Though it is legal to a point, it is illegal to do it in waters where hunting is restricted, which the fleet that Sea Shepherd dicks around with is doing in plain sight.

Actually since they have to throw the stuff away they lose any profit they were trying to make. That's the point of their attacks, to make whaling unprofitable.

I think most of you see them as nothing but Naval PETA hippies, but it's far from the case. They have a legitimate reason, and I'm no "SAVE THE WHALES" nut but the Japanese are doing illegal activity that really is fucking up the environment.

I watched the episode and that's not what I saw happen. The 'Sea Shepards' came up along side the boat and threw Flash Bang grenades at them for whatever reason. If ANYONE thought someone was being pirated, it was the Japanese.

No. It is illegal. How can I spell this out to you any clearer? Yes you may obtain a few whales for scientific research. No, you may not kill several hundred whales for scientific research and then sell them. This is a blatant violation. I don't see how this idea escapes you? You are merely arguing semantics and trying to exploit a loophole that isn't there.
So to explain simply since you are having a hard time:
-It is illegal to kill whales for food and money
-It is legal to kill them for scientific research
-They are obviously killing them just for money and food (this is VERY VERY apparent dude)
-Just because they claim it is for scientific research only, does not make it legal when they are obviously doing it for other reasons entirely (food/money).
Get it now?

That's what I said, Japanese took action because they thought they could have pirated. Sea Shepherd, however only throws glass bottles of buteric acid.

The IWC allows the meat of a whale killed for science to be sold on market so it does not go to waste. It's when you kill 2000 a season that it becomes apparent that you are abusing a loophole to keep whale on the market, you don't need 2000 whales a year to conduct science.

This agrees with everything I said. Lol "captains been shot." I actually heard all about the controversy about that. He actually shot himself or something. He had a concealed device in his bullet-proof vest

I heard they shot the vest on land a long time ago, the just pulled the "captains been shot!" thing at the opportune moment.

A loophole is a loophole and saying otherwise doesn't change it.
Paul Watsons new tactic this year is obviously kamikaze collisions. He won't have a fleet next year if he keeps this up.

Watson does not captian the Bob Barker, though he could have given the order.

I agree. I know the Japanese are commiting a crime in overwhaling and they should be stopped, but they have a right to defend themselves.
"Look at this, these Japanese scum are ramming out boats! What crimes!"
You're throwing ACIDIC BUTTER AND GRENADES AT THEM. They have every right to smash your ship out of the water.

Not really, Minke whales are nowhere near extinction.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minke_whale
The reason people are aggravated by whaling is either the possibility of whales being sapient or whaling methods.
