I remember very well seeing many documentaries and talking about it in my survival class, that, when drowning you will eventually panic, but the panic time is actually short, and then you feel all calm and peaceful, passing away, in one of the most peaceful way.

That's what causes the panic and pain. After a person inhales the pain stops however.
Fuck thats creepy, I've been to Cates Park too. Kind of interesting to know I was within distance of a missing body.
You'd be surprised how many Springs and caves in springs have bodies of drowned divers in them
You might find the stories from divers about the MS Estonia interesting then. A few weeks after it sank, they sent a team down, and one of them reported back that, as he was going through a corridor, he found "bits of flesh" floating around him in the water. There's a video on YouTube from it, I think. And a couple of bodies were visible in the background at certain points of the expedition. [editline]7th December 2011[/editline] Here's the bridge video, where three bodies are found. You can see the shadow of one at 2:03. It would be a nightmare to get lost in there.

The first diver inspecting the bridge, Dave Mawston, before entering the port bridge wing through the lower aft window, which was already broken, cleared away the glass remains and mashwire and then pulled out half a body by the hair to the outside where he let it go.
1:27, Watch at your own risk, it's very disturbing.
Oh. The title made me think that he was only thought to be dead but really was alive, and I was all set to feel real happy for him, but then it just turned out so much sadder.

This body was only approximately half a body because the lower half was missing, possibly due to having been attacked by fish or by being badly decomposed*
:ohdear:
Okay that was fucking creepy, he just fucking moves the body out of the way like its nothing.

I fucking hate the open sea.
Don't you get in an euphoric state after the panic leaves? I'm fairly certain that drowning/dying in water is one of the "best way to go".
Not saying that I was trying to drown myself (ran outa energy from an 8hr mountain hike) but I can safetly say that this happened to me. I was looking at the sky while I was bobbing in and out of the water and I just, I dunno, felt really at peace. Before that then yes there is a whole lot of panicing which is worse because you expend more energy like that.
Cthulhu does not usually give up the remains of his sacrifices
