Its about time...
UK can now be part of the cool countries club. Good work.
I think this has worked out for everyone really. Gays get the title of marriage, and the Tories embarrassed themselves during the process with only 30 of the no votes being none Tory. I hope that makes people realise the Tories are a cunty party.

But I won't continue to discuss politics on this forum. It's just pointless, especially if you're dealing with the sort of people that throw 'cunt' into the argument.

Watched it when it was live. I pay little attention to the commons or anything political but it was really interesting to see members of the same party speaking out against each other and the house so divided. I think one person said that some other guy had "embarrassed" the Tories at one point. Good result. My MP voted in favor which is a good thing to hear.
Well since my MP is a lesbian and member of Labour I can say almost for certain she voted in favour of it.
Surprised this passed considering the incredibly slick, attention-grabbing and expensive-looking videos the Coalition for Marriage has been putting out
is she making an argument for polygamy or against it i dont understand scary ass eyes doe

I suppose I could get outraged, but we still won, so it doesn't really matter. Bearing in mind that there was a guy who managed to a phd for his cat online.

If people are into that then live and let live.
Damn, Theresa May and George Osbourne voted in favour. I'm dangerously close to admitting they did something good.
It's funny because half the yes votes were caused by the homophobic emails that the MP's got.
I truly find it disgusting the views some people in this world hold. I mean seriously, why in the hell shouldn't two people of the same sex who love each other more than a couple who are of opposite sex be able to be married. It is sad we live in a age where a man and woman are allowed to get married, with the chance of that marriage ending in disaster/divorce, or the guy or woman being abusive or similar but two men or two women who wouldn't beat each other, do love each other to the moon and back and will be together forever are deemed evil when it comes to marriage and love. It truly makes me sick. A couple of same sex have all the same rights as any other couple and human being in the world. It's appealing that due to a persons inclination it is used as an all out catalyst for debate and anger. Let these people get married they do absolutely no harm to anyone except the religious nuts. I'm glad this is making good progress and when it is finally legal for gay marriage, I hope ALL the couples who have wished to get married for so long instantly jump at the chance. Because regardless of gender and inclination they have a right to be married to the person they love.

Good to see progress at last though.
Watching the news report on this was hilarious, they showed an interview back when they first legalised gay sex and the interviewer asked "what if these homosexuals start targeting our children?" the ignorance was incredible. Gay marriage is something that has little impact on me but its nice to see others get what they've worked hard for.

Good to see progress at last though.
I understand it's a religious thing. But it I still find it quite sickening that people can still be THIS narrow-minded for the current day and age we live in today. I hate to bring it up as it isn't the time and place to bring up the inaccuracy and fallacy's of the bible. So I shall refrain from that in effort to not derail to the thread to a entirely different even if semi viable topic. I just wish people would get a grip and get with the times. There are gay people in the world, and a lot of them wish to commit to each other in marriage. Maybe it's just me.
Do they really vote with "Aye" and "No"?
If they decided today to start saying "Yes" and they passed a bill, some asshole would challenge it in court because they didn't use the correct words. ehhhhhhhh To be honest, weddings are a reilgious service and I don't think it's for law to meddle in, the churches that support it should be allowed to hold them but forcing it on churches that don't is a bit shit

Law is there for a reason. Oppressing gay people out of marriage because religion says it's "Wrong" is just sad.
I don't know what the law says because I have not studied it; if it does indeed require churches to do such things then that is not good.
My point was that religion seems to at times overpower law and order. Even if both are somewhat askew and corrupt in all senses. Religion seems to throw it's weight around and get it's way. I find it refreshing that now governments are opposing and taking a stand and fixing the wrongs the bible imposes on human beings that don't 'conform' to their ideals.

There is a "quadruple lock" of measures to ensure that churches aren't required to hold gay marriages, and can't be sued for discrimination, and the Church of England and Church of Wales are even specifically banned from holding them
They vote with Ayes and Ears and Mouth and Noes
Peds, voters; Aye and no! Aye and no.

I might not be able to vote but an angry letter would have been heading his way otherwise.
