You can't be "knighted" a Lord. You just have to impress the Monarch enough, but you can even buy the title, so many of those families went bust that they had to sell the titles off to survive.

France is one of the most preservative and Patriotic nations in the EU, so that is why I was surprised, and as for Germany - the largest economy in Western Europe, and it decides to dilute its currency with all the other European nations.
England, PLEASE don't switch to the Euro. The Euro is worth almost as much as a dollar.

You're seriously suggesting that maintaining pride in our history is a bad thing? You really think we should just get rid of everything that makes our country unique and end up as some generic nation with nothing to feel good about? Why not just change the name of the country to Generic Country 1 while you are at it...

Actually, what usually happens is Prime Ministers make their favourite Cabinet Ministers life peers so they stay in the Cabinet if they get voted out of the Commons.

It's not all or nothing like that you dolt. You can start using a different currency without abandoning your nation's heritage. Germany, France, or the Netherlands didn't suddenly lose all national identity when they switched.

Yeah the Euro has actually done pretty well historically, even in the slump it is now it's better than the dollar. Fear of it is all based on petty nationalism and other ideological motivation rather than facts and numbers.
