Yes, because that was me saying the Pound hasn't changed, right? I have been around since 1989 and I, obviously, have changed a lot. Does that mean that 5 year old David was a completely different person to 10 year old David? No. Go figure.
yeah because the pound today is totally not completely different to a silver coin in the 1300s right? [editline]03:38PM[/editline]
Yes, definately, it's based on a previous system, thus this means that they are EXACTLY THE SAME.
If it was exactly the same there wouldn't have been changes to the system
They can shove their damn euro where the sun don't shine. The day this country starts using euro is the day i rage quit.
Yeah, lets move to Emperor Scorpious' place.
I'm glad we are in the EU but I don't want the euro. I don't want us to take on a weaker currency especially at such a bad time.
I was being sarcastic.
oh okay
I'm glad we are in the EU but I don't want the euro. I don't want us to take on a weaker currency especially at such a bad time.
The Euro...weak? Uhm, no?
yeah because the pound today is totally not completely different to a silver coin in the 1300s right?
Oh God... Are you taking in ANYTHING I am saying? I'm really getting sick of repeating myself.
Oh God... Are you taking in ANYTHING I am saying? I'm really getting sick of repeating myself.
Your argument is pointless. The historical value of the pound is worthless. Your attempts at defining it as traditional and historical are senseless. Resistance is futile.
Oh God... Are you taking in ANYTHING I am saying? I'm really getting sick of repeating myself.
No I'm not, because you're talking absolute shite. The Pound is not heritage, no-one gives a shit about it for heritage. We give a shit about it because it sets us apart from the rest of the EU.
Your argument is pointless. The historical value of the pound is worthless. Your attempts at defining it as traditional and historical are senseless. Resistance is futile.
We are the Strasbourg. Resistance is Futile. Commence Euro-Purge.
We're happy with the Quid tyvm. Mandelson is an insufferable git anyway.
The Euro...weak? Uhm, no?
Compared to the pound it is. Also the Euro was a bad idea from the start.
Compared to the pound it is.
Value doesn't necessarily mean a currency is weak. For the same reason we don't say that the US dollar is weak (often). Because it isn't. More importantly, having a weak currency has several advantages. [editline]03:52PM[/editline]
Compared to the pound it is. Also the Euro was a bad idea from the start.
Bullshit.
£1- to 1.119 EU. Huh barely stronger. Especially compared to where it started off at like ~1.6 Euros to £1.
£1- to 1.119 EU. Huh barely stronger. Especially compared to where it started off at like ~1.6 Euros to £1.
1 British pound = 1.5248 U.S. dollars 1 Euro = 1.3621 U.S. dollars 1 Japanese yen = 0.011252 U.S. dollars Yeah, the pound is so weak.
To say that the pound has no historical value is stupid. Why should the Pound be valued any less than, say, a Roman coin? Face it, the pound is a defining part of our country and it's heritage. I can't believe there are people that consider the currency to be 'new' just because it has changed somewhat since its original conception a long time ago.
That's funny, because I do and so do plenty of other people who voted against the Euro.
Because a small minority of idiots thinking something must be true makes it true right? And no, for the last time, it is not part of our heritage.
Heck no Keep the pound so I can keep on buying shit ridiculously cheap from your country owned
Compared to the pound it is. Also the Euro was a bad idea from the start.
You may like/love it or dilsike/hate it, but that there is just no.
Dear Mandy,
I know nothing about European politics but that was awesome.

And keeping something despite the fact that it could be holding us back because of "heritage" is fucking ridiculous.
But it's not holding us back, so your point is pretty much irrelevant.
Because a small minority of idiots thinking something must be true makes it true right? And no, for the last time, it is not part of our heritage.
So the whole referendum on the Euro was actually fixed and the majority who voted to keep the pound doesn't actually exist? Ok. And yes, for the last time, it is part of our heritage. "Cultural heritage ("national heritage" or just "heritage") is the legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations."
You really haven't seen how nicely the Germans and Fren- I mean Europeans are treating the Greeks right now, have you?
You really can't blame them for being so harsh with the Greeks. They were allowed entrance to EU and thereby usage of the Euro by lying about their financial status and when they finally tell the world about how bad it is, they expect everybody else to clean up their mess for them. They're jeopardizing all the Euro countries economies by committing this crime.

Countries with the euro have increased trade, tourism and other perks. Right, so how exactly does taking on the euro remove the legacy of physical artefacts?
It is holding us back. Countries with the euro have increased trade, tourism and other perks. Right, so how exactly does taking on the euro remove the legacy of physical artefacts?
Steam games are cheaper.

Second, read the rest of what I posted. Fully.
Fuck him, dickhead twat fucking wanker bastard.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
The pro of British money is that you can tell the differece between types of coins, unlike the Euros which all look the same,
I kind of like the euro because now I no longer need to exchange money when I go abroad, and it's easier to compare hotel prices etc. with a single currency, but holy shit if it didn't make prices go up. Some things actually cost >100% more than they did before, like car mechanics pretty much translated 50 Finnish marks an hour to 50 euros an hour....and one euro is almost 6 Finnish marks. I'd say stick to the pound if you don't mind the little things when traveling.
The Euro...weak? Uhm, no?
I said "weaker"
