Trump overtakes Clinton in poll average for first time

Don't freak out - ignore the averages too, now. Please.
Imagine how fucked Hillary must imagine her image to be. Even with all the money she can muster and all the pandering that she can give, she'll still have to seriously struggle to beat Donald Fucking Trump to become the president. It's one thing to have to cheat your way into getting a nomination, but to literally have a serious chance of being defeated by a shmuck like Trump?
My self-image would be shattered.
Another story that sounds good on paper, but meaningless. The polls mean nothing this far out. They also had Romney beating Obama by a landslide.
The direct source here is a site called "The Hill", whom I have not hear of.

That was done by RealClearPolitics, whom I also have not heard of.
The Hill and RealClearPolitics are some of the biggest political discussion sites there are, I'm amazed that you haven't heard of either before-- whether that be during the previous elections or just generally any time during the primaries.
So this particular set of polls isn't particularly trustworthy even without further context, but there's another issue: Bernie fucking Sanders. The primaries have not concluded yet, and Sanders could conceivably run as a third-party.
He's already said very clearly that he won't do this, and if he did, he'd split the Democrat vote and pretty much ensure that Trump wins the election. Sanders isn't going to be running in the general election, get over it already.
I guess my ultimate point here is "small polls this far from Election Day are pointless except for zealots to have something to yell about", which is... exactly what we see here.
Measuring public opinion and the overall popular vote is always interesting, even if it doesn't explicitly determine who's going to win.
Holy crap we get it you really like Clinton.
Scorpius is a libertarian last I checked, I don't think he's ecstatic about Clinton at all.
We don't need a new thread for this every damn day.
