Didn't someone, who actually works with the military, mention in a similar thread months ago that the JSDF is a complete joke, though?
Could I have citation(s)?

Anything anyone cites is going to be pure opinion. Japan hasn't fought a war in over 70 years, so we have no way of knowing how well they perform in battle aside from staged war games and military exercises. They may have done a few UN missions but thats not at all relevant to the overall competency of their military.
We have no way of knowing how well or how poorly they would do in an all out war unless they get themselves into one.

My US marine friend once saw how the JGSDF infantry operated when they came to the US to train
he said it was laughable since guys were bunching up most of the time and was doing weird stuff like pulling security (prone) like 15ft away from a fellow soldier what was casually standing up doing administrative stuff
I have a cousin in the JASDF and even their firearms training is minimal and lacking according to him. They even tape their rifles together so they don't come apart during field exercises

take it as you will, but there's quite a few things that kinda indicate their focus isn't really fighting but moreso supporting the US or other allies when shit hits the fan
I don't think that land should ever go back to Japanese control. Too many people died capturing it in the first place.
Lots of Russians died capturing Berlin, therefore Berlin should be Russian.
Lots of Americans died capturing Normandy, therefore Normandy should be American
But there is already one in Tokyo.
