Oh man I didn't know you spoke for everyone in the UK! I'm sure nobody in the UK wants to be the victim of a violent crime either!

Way to de-rail the thread into a "My country allows me to do so-so so that country should be the same, ignore all the surveys and shit, they should be like this!"

No one does, but because we live in a small country with a high population means the police can be anywhere very quickly, unlike in the US. There isn't really a gun lobby in the UK, and everyone I know who owns firearms are happy with the current status quo here.

I genuinely do not know a single person who wants guns to be widespread

I would wager a substantial amount of dosh that, if put to a referendum, the majority of people in this country would vote against relaxing gun laws. We don't have a gun culture, we've never had one, and I don't think many people are interested in starting one now.
This thread degenerated quickly...
I'm stating, that I believe in the ability to own and carry weapons for self defense to prevent being a victim of violent crimes. I believe more countries should implement the ability to CCW for self defense. My gun(s) stay secured inside my belt and have yet to enter my ass. Thanks!
Well good for you but the people of the UK don't want them back and American opinions will never change that.
(I'm actually slightly more pro-gun than your average Brit but if the majority of us don't want them, we don't want them)

so what's your idea of how this should have gone down? robber pulls gun and demands your wallet, you pull gun and hope you pull the trigger quicker? you pull gun and hope he's not serious enough to pull the trigger? you give him your wallet wait till he starts gapping it and you shoot him in the back?
wouldn't have these problems if blair was still prime minister, long live blair.
I hope this is a joke

you do realize that many of us don't really want it, right
you can't just shove a part of how the US works into other countries and expect it to work perfectly.
