Helicopters are very vulnerable to small arms fire, and that means for a good minute or two you have to have a helicopter hover on top of that vehicle, while you send men out to secure the lines so it can carry it.
It's too much risk, they made the right choice, I doubt they're happy about it, but still better than losing the lives of your men for something interchangeable and replaceable

No, simply because it's a little difficult to "hide in cities". First of all, most insurgents are normal citizens and live out normal lives. Second of all, most of the time, the American's have cities clogged up, so it's a little hard to move out of the cities. Third of all, they're a resistance group. They resist American occupation... where are the American's at? A good portion of the time in cities.

Nah. Standard operating procedure for any country pretty much. If it is disabled and you cannot safely extract it, then you blow it up to prevent its capture by the enemy.
