Hahaha I like how I didn't notice that aydin posted exactly what I said ^
i have spotify free too
I don't see how this is a big shock to anyone.
Remember Stage6? That died because they chose to keep it free till they went bankrupt
I would have gladly paid for Stage6. It was the best video streaming service of all time.
I'd also pay for Spotify but then it'd need to be outside of Europe first. Oh well, until then I'll stick to Pandora.
Oh well I'll just stop using Spotify. If I didn't want to pay when I had all the free music I wanted I definitely won't want to pay once I'm limited. I'll just find something else.

I think that's a bit of their idea.
No use in having leechers that won't ever contribute to keeping the service alive.
But 10 hours of music is a lot so I don't see this being such a huge block for many people. It's rather just the fact that a reduce in the limit being announced that causes the fuss because then people think over it and get to hear that they are getting limited and starts hating it, even if it doesn't matter for them.
Why haven't I heard about Spotify before? Sounds like a sucky service to me, when I can go on Pandora radio or Last.fm and not deal with any of the membership shit.

Because it's only available in Europe and you live in America.
Only reason I use Spotify Free is because it's.. well free and unlimited. If I get a fixed limit of 5 replays of a track, then there'll be little reason for me to keep using Spotify.
With its current model Spotify loses tens of millions of dollars each year, sadly they will have to do much more than this if they want to stick around
Well that was a few years ago. I think things will have changed by now.
I really love spotify, but sadly i use Spotify Free. I guess i'll just buy the premium subscription whenever effects takes place(1 may?)
Good thing I don't use Spotify.
Never heard of anyone having that problem before.
You must have some seriously crap internet.
I have the same issue, on a 10mbit connection

"The changes we’re having to make will mainly affect heavier Spotify Free and Open users"
Fuck.
Because it's only available in Europe and you live in America.
not all of europe
[editline]15th April 2011[/editline]
if I may quote the Wikipedia article:
"Spotify is currently only available in Sweden, Spain, Norway, Finland, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Switzerland the Premium service was offered until July 2009, but never the free version. Currently only customers with credit cards issued in one of the above-mentioned launch countries can buy a Premium account.
According to Jonathan Forster of Spotify AB, Spotify was supposed to be launched in the United States before the end of 2010 but has been pushed back for a 2011 release."
[editline]15th April 2011[/editline]
and Groovshark is probably the most popular Spotify-alternative for all those countries that don't have it
i hate spotify, back to limewire oh wait limewire was closed, back to youtube then
anyone please invite me to spotify free? pm me and i will send you my email address
This changes also apply to Spotify Free accounts, not only Open ones
off to buy Unlimited!
Oh great, this poses the question: if you own an album on vinyl, is it OK to pirate an mp3 version, you've already bought the music....
(thinking more morally than legally here)

You have to ask yourself that question. Morality is subjective. Most people on Facepunch would say it's okay, I'd guess.

Why would you ever use limewire. It has ALWAYS been bad.

morally, yes. legally, probably not - but who cares.

Not legal. But morally is up to each single person to decide for themselves, it won't change the legal part no matter what anyways.
