• Portal developer quit Valve because they were too "hardcore"

Really? I didn't really think of Valve being "hardcore". They seem kinda laid back if you ask me, even if they are technically a triple-A studio in control of one of the largest digital distribution systems on Earth.
That quantum game looks boring as shit imo. The dimensions are just different levels or object replacement. The slo-mo dimension is just a well, slo-mo. If there won't be any more gameplay elements, it will get boring really fast. [editline]19th January 2012[/editline] Oh wait there won't. Because that's too hardcore.
There better be about up to 7 or more dimensions, otherwise, I'll not like it. fluffy, low gravity(Maybe not), high gravity (Or maybe metalic), ice, bouncy, slow mo, upside down (Player or more basically walks on ceilings)

Highly competitive circlejerks like DOTA and CS: GO are considerable as "hardcore", and because of how Valve works, she would have to help develop them at some point. I kind of see why she would quit when she is quite happy working on simpler, more accessible puzzle games, that don't encourage competition, and are just a fun game. The original Portal was quite dark, and could be a challenge on the advanced maps, but it was still easy for anybody to just pick up and play it. DOTA2 and CS: GO are not. Christ, as good as Valve are at developing interesting single-player games, and nearly immortal online games, they are not gods. If a developer quits because they don't like the direction Valve want to go in, and don't enjoy developing for that viewpoint. Good, they can go and pursue their dream developments. Rather than being stuck doing something they would rather not. There is no reason to be even remotely hostile to the woman just because she quit her job, and her new game doesn't look bad at all, you can tell it was influenced by previous games and Portal (she was a developer, of course it will influence her), but that doesn't mean it's going to suck. It might look quite simple, but Portal did too at first. I'm sure they can make something interesting from it, the idea of falling through portals isn't new and exciting itself, the way she and the Portal team implemented it though, made it magical.
