Is the 4GB version of GTX 770 worth the extra 70-80 bucks?
I remember there were people justifying monopolization of PC hardware for the past few years due to Intel Nvidia domination of the market. Then there's the people who want the PC market to become Nvidia only "for games finally use PhysX in all games" :v:
wrong thread please fuck my ass thanks
I upgraded from a 450 to a 660 and it was a major upgrade, mind you it I had that card for about 2 years and I only upgraded due to a fan problem, 660 should last another 2-3 years so i wouldn't worry forking out for a 770
Similar here, I went from a 450 to a GTX 760 last month (Along with a monitor upgrade to 1080p) and the performance boost is really notable. I get a solid 60fps from Arkham City now on my new monitor as opposed to occasionally dropping below 30 on my old 450 at 1366x768.
fuck you I just bought a 770 seriously fuck off omg whyyyy fuuuuuuuck

Is the 4GB version of GTX 770 worth the extra 70-80 bucks?
only if you're running at insanely high resolutions or want to push 3+ monitors
only if you're running at insanely high resolutions or want to push 3+ monitors
Not entirely true, 3GB should be the minimum with the texture resolutions we'll be seeing in the coming years. A modded Skyrim being a prime example - unplayable with 1GB, a breeze with +3GB.
Personally went from a 550Ti to a 670 last month, it can handle everything I throw at it, it's pretty nice
I'm on a 580 and a xenon e5645, is it worth upgrading yet?

My skyrim folder was over 30gb with textures and what not. Not saying don't get the 4gb, but if you are at 1080p and wanna save some cash, 2gb is still fine and will be fine for a good time.
Mhh i got a 7950 3GB which is clocked at 1200/1300 and is faster than a 680/770. It only cost me 3000 nok which is fairly cheap. I also got to choose from 3 games that i want to play.(Never Settle Forever Bundle) I also got a decent cooler on it which makes my gpu run quite and cool at max load at about 65°C while having a ambient room temp of 23°C. Why doesn't Nvidia do any Game Bundles? Also why would i want to pay more for something that is just as fast as an AMD card, yet the AMD card is cheaper. Most of the stuff is gimmick as well. PhysX, TressFX. The only thing that is cool is ShadowPlay, but then you also got programs like D3DGear which too allows you to record in 1080p at 60 fps much better performance and also smaller files. I wan't more competition between AMD and Nvidia no more gimmick but real game changers.
Some cases have windows.
The GPU(s) face down.
What I'm wondering is why my laptop graphics card has 4GB of GDDR5 while the 7xx cards only have 2GB.
I have a really hard time buying PC shit since I know there's going to be a better and cheaper model in my price range soon enough. And when that time comes, another, even better will be in my price range. And this never ends!
I could sell my 670 for $200 and get a 770 for roughly a $100 more. I wonder if these card will get knocked down further come black friday.
Man, I got a 670 last month for $300. Wish I waited.
I'm on a 580 and a xenon e5645, is it worth upgrading yet?
I'm still on the 580 after 3 years of use and it still plays games on max settings very well. I probably wont upgrade til the summer.
Hmm, i'm thinking about selling my 670 and getting a 770, which even further pisses me off because last december i bought my 670 for $400-450, and now 770s are going for 300. FUCK.
I'm still on the 580 after 3 years of use and it still plays games on max settings very well. I probably wont upgrade til the summer.
I'm honestly wondering if the jump is enough considering BF4 can't even run properly for fuck sake.
Is the 4GB version of GTX 770 worth the extra 70-80 bucks?
Only if you are doing something that specifically uses that memory. If you aren't rendering stuff or using 3 monitors or somesuch, there is no point. The 4GB cards are usually binned at higher clockrates, but beyond that, very few people are going to benefit from having that much memory available. It's the same deal as putting 16 gigs of RAM in a gaming system. Nothing will use it so 8 is fine.
I hope all those people who dropped all that cash for the titans feel like shit now.
Nope, also firmware upgrades are a hell of a drug. I could afford it, so I did it, no regrets. If you buy a card for bragging rights you're a retard.
I have had a 5870 since it came out and I still don't feel like I need an upgrade.
Nothing will use it so 8 is fine.
Battlefield 4 itself easily chews 9GB, 12 is considered the safe amount. About the 4GB Vram - if you got 2k screen and use AA it is worth every last cent, especially now when we might see higher res textures being used because of the new console generation.
I have had a 5870 since it came out and I still don't feel like I need an upgrade.
I've got a 5850 over here and I still max a lot of games, except for a few that make sense like the Metros. The one factor that holds me back mainly is the 1gb memory so I'll make sure that my next purchase is higher.
Fuck yes, shadow play now cheap as shit graphics cards? Might pick up a second card now.
I got 460 OC SLI, and I'm not feeling the pressure, prob upgrade when there is a card thats really worth upgrading to.
Chilling on a 7970 waiting for the 290x. The Nvidia boys at my job are also hoping to 290x's.
I wonder if Nvidia will make a GTX 750. I think it's amazing that even low end graphics cards can run most games on decent settings and higher end cards are just there if you wanna be beast.
Does this mean I have to upgrade from my 650 ti?
