Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) compares Republicans to Nazis

Unlike the Republicans, the Nazis actually got shit done.
He didn't compare republicans to nazis, he compared him to one specific nazi, Goebbels. He was the master of propaganda which is something the modern GOP are quite familiar with.

I think he's completely right.

I cannot thank you enough.
The Republicans have been calling the Democrats communists since forever, so it's okay.
ughr
Republicans can scream about the commusocialist obamacare law all they want, but one offhand reference to a guy who was a nazi and everyone's up in arms.
Godwin's law in action.
Guy didn't get the message socialism and communism's in, Nazism's out.
Godwin's law in action.
Not really.
To be fair they are fascists
I'll admit that Jim Crow Laws = Nuremberg Laws, but the Republicans are centre-right.

Centrisim is pretty subjective depending on what country you live in. Republicans are ridiculously far right compared to any other developed nation.

Compared to what? Nigeria?

Communism, at least, still has a shred of credibility left. Calling someone a Nazi is just low.
To most Tea-Party members, being a communist is at least as bad as being a Nazi.
The banner-waving idiots of both parties need to pull their heads out of their asses. Neither is infallible, both need serious reform.

yeah but I think we've already determined that most tea-party members can hardly be called sentient.
To be fair they are fascists
Hahahahaahahaaha, yes.

He was comparing methods, not claiming the republicans were nazis.

Details, details.
A political party member called a member of another political party a nazi?
AND IN CONGRESS, NO LESS?
HOLY FUCK.

He didn't call him a nazi.

yes, the democrats need to be more liberal
don't put the two parties on the same level because they're not. at least the democrats TRY to promote equality and accomplish things.
The Nazi comparison is inappropriate, but that is 100% how the Republican Party gets people to buy it's bullshit. They make up complete lies, then have Fox repeat them 24/7 until stupid people eventually start to believe it's true.
Ditto Democrats and MSNBC
and with due cause
Ditto Democrats and MSNBC
whenever anyone levels any criticism at the republicans you immediately reply with "THE DEMOCRATS ARE JUST AS BAD". No, they're not.
As shitty as the democrats are, they are not as bad as the republicans, who have wholesale sold their party to special interest and the military-industrial complex. As crappy as the democrats are, they at least are founded on, and semi-adhere to, a decent ideological base which includes things like treating gay people as human beings, allowing stem-cell research, not forcing women to carry children they cannot support, and providing funding to vital social services.
Both parties are bad, but they are not equal levels of bad. Try to have an opinion on politics that is maybe just a little deeper than "well they both do bad things so it is impossible to criticize one without criticizing the other in equal measure." Try to have some damn nuance in your understanding of politics.
Well Sarah Palin DID put people in literal crossairs, but she's a tea partier so I guess it doesn't count.
