Let me state this right now because people seem to be confused. He was not saying that republicans are nazis, he was only saying that when misinformation is repeating enough, it becomes accepted as fact, regardless of how much plausibility/evidence there is. He only used their propaganda as an example because it's the most known example of propaganda. I know it's been said in this thread, but I want it to be summarized... Actually, I'd like it to be said over and over again until...
Finally someone understands.
Yeah, that's what sucks about politics, if it sounds like you're hinting something controversial, you might as well be. Example: I told my teacher who gave me direct comparisons to some aspects of liberal economic policies in the United States to Hitler's early economic policies. I told him it was true, but it actually worked. I also tried to explain that because they are only economic, they do not necessarily have to be tied with a totalitarian government style, but all he heard was that I said a Hitler policy worked. Well, Hitler also used tanks and guns, so should we just not use tanks and guns? In short, people make everything absolute when it isn't. Also, I'm not saying that my example was the exact same thing as what happened to Cohen.
Godwin's law in action.
no go look up what godwin's law is
Well Sarah Palin DID put people in literal crossairs, but she's a tea partier so I guess it doesn't count.
how does that have any relevance to anything
Too be far both of the big two parties are going in the direction of fascism, in terms of state control.
sounds like special interest groups to me...
Sounds like human beings to me.
why are nerds on the internet incapable of just accepting that republicans are dumb and not bringing it up at every possible opportunity
why are nerds on the internet incapable of just accepting that republicans are dumb and not bringing it up at every possible opportunity
:jerkbag:
republicans are far worse than democrats- for their ass-backwards social policies alone, if not anything else. both are pretty shoddy, though
sounds like special interest groups to me...
everyone knows that the real money is with abortion doctors gay people and the poor smarten up people
sounds like special interest groups to me...
how the fuck does that even work
everyone knows that the real money is with abortion doctors gay people and the poor smarten up people
They use the money they steal from the rich to line the pockets of them dumbocrats! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
sounds like special interest groups to me...
You deserve all kinds of lead in your head for just how special our are.
whenever anyone levels any criticism at the republicans you immediately reply with "THE DEMOCRATS ARE JUST AS BAD". No, they're not. As shitty as the democrats are, they are not as bad as the republicans, who have wholesale sold their party to special interest and the military-industrial complex. As crappy as the democrats are, they at least are founded on, and semi-adhere to, a decent ideological base which includes things like treating gay people as human beings, allowing stem-cell research, not forcing women to carry children they cannot support, and providing funding to vital social services. Both parties are bad, but they are not equal levels of bad. Try to have an opinion on politics that is maybe just a little deeper than "well they both do bad things so it is impossible to criticize one without criticizing the other in equal measure." Try to have some damn nuance in your understanding of politics.
He never said they were equally bad, merely that they were both imperfect - to whatever degree. Contrary to many of FP's views, the Democratic Party is not perfect.
Goddammit why the fuck does everyone from my state have to be a fucking moron. :argh:
He never said they were equally bad, merely that they were both imperfect - to whatever degree. Contrary to many of FP's views, the Democratic Party is not perfect.
I don't believe that anyone here thinks the Democrats are perfect by any stretch of imagination. Also, Ridge, how the fuck is supporting gay rights, abortions, and stem-cell research the same sort of special-interest bias as being influenced by oil or military companies?

WAKE UP PEOPLE, FOX IS THE ONLY TRUE NEWS STATION IN THIS HEATHENIST LAND!! :bahgawd: Don't take anything ridge posts even remotely seriously man, it's for the best.
sounds like special interest groups to me...
no they're not, they're god-damned human rights and scientific initiatives are you really so oblivious that you think there's some sort of massive, shadowy "gay lobby" which has enough money to hold power over congress?

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've had this discussion on here. Not one of us thinks the dems are fucking perfect.
Contrary to many of FP's views, the Democratic Party is not perfect.
that's not contrary to fp's views at all if you're going to stereotype do it properly for fucks sake
I think that most of the democrats are a bunch of little bitches who know they're right on most things, but are afraid to fight for it. The top 10% own 90% of our wealth, so they can afford the best lobbyists. The money is in abortion doctors? Please. The money is in corporations, which makes sense and is fine, but the lobbyists give them too much power in politics. Conservatives aren't innately corrupt or evil in nature, but there is a lot more interest in being a corrupt republican than there is a corrupt democrat. Government takeover? The Bush administration started No Child Left Behind and started wiretapping and the Nixon administration started the EPA (Which was actually a good thing), so republicans have actually had more control than the democrats.

Nobody here thinks Democrats are perfect. However, the disparity between the two parties when it comes to saying outlandishly stupid shit is very apparent.
