Adobe's new subscription-only piracy killer Photoshop has already been pirated in one day

I never really saw the Adobe Creative Cloud touted as an anti-piracy measure. I'm actually pretty happy about it I'm actually able to afford $50 a month as opposed to upwards of $3,000 (frickin' Aussie price gouging) every 18 months. I can selectively install the programs I use and operate from the get-go, instead of waiting an hour and a half for everything I'll never use to install.
It's really nice getting new features and updates on a regular basis, even just minor things, it's like getting Steam updates.
I will however admit it seems odd to completely discontinue the usual method, as much as the creative cloud (I hate calling it that, I never use the cloud space, it's a subscription pricing model and nothing else) is suited to my needs, I can understand that varying between different people.
50 bucks a month for every program isn't too bad at all.
considering without cloud the master collection is like $2,600
If you think of it this way, you would spend the same amount after 4.3 years of subscription costs. And you get the latest version of the CS without any added cost. Not a bad deal really.
These days fucking over your customers isn't as fruitful.
Some companies actually realize this and treat their customers well enough for them to pay for their products out of respect and to support their future projects and uphold current ones.
Adobe's among those who have not realized this.
Doubt Adobe cares. As long as large businesses and schools aren't pirating it, they don't care as much.
they fully expected this, and I don't recall adobe proclaiming it a piracy killer. I think it just changes the representation of paid vs pirated.
Currently most people see the difference as:
paid- I get the demo of the program and give a shitton of money to get a serial code
pirated- I get the demo of the program from their site and find a crack
now they're increasing visibility of paid's benefits, from it not being one lump sum but a monthly access (great for people who don't think they'd get the thousands of dollars of use out of it in the long run), regular updates and upgrades in place of larger service pack downloads, and the ability to use your licence on a number of computers so you can use your work license from your home computer if you want to be a leech. Pirated hasn't changed, or maybe it has. Who knows, maybe there's a way to track down who set loose the pirate version since it came from a cloud install instead of a general trial download.
why does the adobe suite gotta be so expensive. yeah its a professional software package but come on
why does the adobe suite gotta be so expensive. yeah its a professional software package but come on
You just gave your own reason. It provides the primary tools for a number of jobs. People need it if they want to do work that makes them money.
When you're making money because you have Creative Suite, it's not that expensive at all anymore.
As much as I want the new stuff and CC might be relatively reasonable for someone who uses it nonstop for profit, but I'm sitting on my CS6 production suite copy I got through school for a loonnnng time.

if you don't know what parts of it make it so expensive, you probably don't need it. Get elements if you still want a photoshop, or just go with gimp
after effects is the most powerful, craziest program in the suite
I was a long time photoshop user, but moving into after effects blew my mind.
I seriously hope they reconsider this subscription-only "cloud" shit for those of us who prefer paying once, otherwise I guess I'll be using CS6 indefinitely
I bought a commercial license of CS4 Master Collection for like £2.5k when it came out.
They recently offered me the ability to go to Creative Cloud and get all the updates, and I'd get it at less than half the regular subscription price for a year (Works out at £240 or so for a year). Or I could just outright upgrade to CS6 (without future updates) for about £1000.
I think Creative Cloud is an excellent idea.
It means that if you're wanting to get into freelancing or w/e, you don't have to fork out an absurd amount of money as a one-off payment. That's like a good 3-4 months rent & bills if you buy it in one go.
Instead - it's just like a mobile subscription, and when you start making money back from freelancing, it works out to be way more affordable, especially seeing as you get all the updates (which between CS4 and 6, were quite major).
That's because they're both handhelds, and one of them is nintendo. Nintendo shit is so airtight, there's probably literally nothing to exploit.
Still the PS3 took years to crack so hackers shouldn't get too cocky.
Simcity hasn't been cracked yet

I read somewhere ages ago (and now I can't find it..) that certain people at Adobe don't care about piracy as it gets people hooked on their software. The idea being that when people who have pirated Photoshop etc go out and work in an environment where it might be needed they would instantly suggest Photoshop as they are used to it.
I remember it being likened to a drug dealer giving away free samples..

Can't you just get one of those R4 cards and put an SD card loaded with games into it?

Military grade. You mean like my MSI motherboard?

Of course they know that schools and businesses are pirating it. That's the ones that they want to get to buy the software legitimately, because they have the money. The average internet user isn't going to spend a thousand dollars to swap heads around in a picture, and they know that.

Let me repeat myself:
Boy DO I have some news for you.
Those who pirate it are often on a tight budget for whatever retarded/unfortunate reasons.
I might be willing to pay for it if I was freelancing, but I work at a business who has to pay it themselves. There's no way in hell I would pay the same fee to have that software to use in my spare time at home when I already have it for free at the office.
I'm still just as efficient using CS5 for home use as I am using CS6. There's barely any difference at all.
