Because usually this kind of story means that the game is a console port, but with BF3 that's obviously not the case
yeah but why is that worth getting angry about it?
if the game is fun and enjoyable the developers choice wouldn't have to matter.
I have been playing battlefield 3
It's a fun game
It's buggy sometimes
It was released on consoles too
I am having fun

Well usually when the game is a console port, it'll be enjoyable, but it's always irritating knowing that it could have been much better, had the developers focused on their home platform. Crysis 2 is a good example. I enjoyed Crysis 2 and I find it to be a fun game, but I think it would have been a lot better if Crytek hadn't abandoned the PC in favor of making a successful console title.
If the game is something like COD where you know it's a console based or at least cross platform oriented game and it turns out to be a port, that's fine, it's just annoying when the developer/publisher hypes you up on how much they care about the PC, only to deliver a underwhelming product.
stop
a port is when you take a game developed for one system
and PORT IT so that it works on another platform
theres a difference between a port and a CROSS PLATFORM title

Because usually this kind of story means that the game is a console port, but with BF3 that's obviously not the case
Its really sad that the words "console port" or "cross platform" are taken as "shit pc game" in today's PC community. Just look at Portal 2, fucking fantastic game, easily one of the best of the year. However, the mere wiff that it might have been a "console port" sent people up the wall in a Valve hating frenzy.
Now I understand that this bad name for console ports and cross platform games is mainly because of the developer not taking the proper time to optimize and or slapping on shitty DRM (Hi From Dust). Nevertheless, this blanket statement that all console ports or cross platform games signaling a bad PC version needs to end. This attitude is not doing us any favors and arguably is part of what turns developers away from even considering the PC.

it's simply marketing hype. when a company says "THE PC IS AMAZING WE'RE GONNA DO EVERYTHING *slup* *slup*" they're just trying to exploit people's frustrations.
i think it's when people come to the internet they lose the identities they have in real life and it forces them to take up another identity. one of these is the "PC Gamer" identity and now simply because the market is changing they feel attacked which is very very interesting and also a little bit funny.
The engine is developed on the PC then ported over, its a PC game you idiots not a console port. Stop jumping to stupid and moronic conclusions :/
Well i didn't notice anything related to being a console port, so job well done dice.
Yeah, if it is a port, they did a damn good job at it. Not like Black Ops, where I've gotten errors where letters have been replaced with a dpad icon.
Battlelog is great, nothing wrong with it when it actually works.
You can't say it's bad just because you can't join a server because of some error, the game just launched so obviously there will be issues and when it all get fixed Battlelog will be amazing.

haha dice fixing problems
So what ever happened to this?

I can't think of anything special for the PC version besides their lovely (:v:) Origin and Battlelog.
This so hard...
Also, I hate that it makes me install a plugin to be able to use Battlelog. What the actual fuck was wrong with an in-game browser and then having Battlelog as the social aspect.
Spyware? In that case, Steam is spyware aswell. You do realise Steam monitors your hardware AND software and publishes them? They have pretty much the same terms of agreement.
And where is the source that Battlelog doesn't work for many people? I mean, I've experienced a few issues myself but that's normal this early of a release.
I've actualy tested this, and no, it dosn't, only checks hardware during the hardware survey, where you actualy opt in
Well, I'm comparing games to movies on release times and polish. Yes, PC's can have huge variations in configuration, but when significant enough portions of players have issues, that's when it feels like it wasn't QA tested or like it was rushed. My point is that we shouldn't expect or excuse this many bugs, I'm not trying to be cynical, I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm saying that wouldn't it be nice if games didn't have bugs on release? And I'm not asking for anything that's 100% bug free, if there's a minor sound glitch at this one milisecond at this one time of day I'm not going to care and no one should, but bugs that cause game crashes, buggy AI in campaign, people not being able to connect to games, and numerous other issues that are quite major show that the game is rushed. One thing that distinguishes the COD series on PC, despite Activision's poor treatment of the platform and the overall stink of the series, is the sheer level of polish that they come with. MW2 was like an AK-47, you could alt-tab out and jump around back and forth and it ran butter smooth and next to never crashed. BF3 clearly has a plethora of issues, and you're kind of being an ass saying that everyone else's problems are irrelevant because the game is fun and works for you.
As for the Origin ToS thing, I found that in the thread I linked earlier. Also, while those reports remain unverified, several German newspapers, large ones, have reported on this issue and it's becoming quite substantial.
I don't hate Origin, I hate the company and don't want to give them my money. I don't want to support a business I disagree with.
I bought MW2, and it was a pretty decent time waster. Nothing special, but enjoyable. I had problems with crashing, though, and after some time without patching and the extreme amount of hacks (Almost every time I joined a game, at least one would be doing something that wasn't totally legit) and shenanigans going around, I simply couldn't play it anymore. The crashes didn't disappear upon reinstall, and it even happened on the computer I built in the spring, though I haven't played it more than maybe 15 minutes every once in while, since last summer.
Any way to get Battlelog to run in a new browser session instead of adding to my existing one or specifying which browser for it to use?
Battlelog is awesome
I have put the game on hold till the Battlelog and the crashes are fixed.. Battlelog seems even worse than in the beta, and I didn't use to crash.
I haven't had a problem with Battlelog or Origin. I find it a hundred times more convenient to load a game from the browser while still having other tabs open until it's ready and it isn't any slower to click esc, then quit the game to look at the server list. Battlelog is working well as a stat tracker with all of my friends, it's a good centralised way to see how everyone else is going.
I also rarely get lag in game and certainly no more than I had in BF2 or BC2. I'm running this game on a laptop that doesn't even meet the minimum laptop requirements and it all works fine at medium/high, so all in all it's a very impressive semi-PC port.

They used to list both, now it seems they only do hardware.
Cant really see any fault with the game. Atleast it didnt turn out like the GTA IV port.
