Aw man, this was such a great game Dunno but America, but in Britain, when toontown began, we used to get monthly newsletters with posters, badges, etc sent to the house. We got a big chart of the COG enemies, heights, classes, etc. It was great, Buying gags and whatnot.
Oh man I remember these, we got them in America too. It was so great. Too bad I can't remember my parent password from forever ago, or else I'd hop on again and see what's new.
For some odd reason, I thought this shut down 5 years ago.
Yeah fuck Disney. I've been playing this off and now throughout the past year with friends from my school that used to play as well when they were younger. The game definitely shows age but that's only because they can't be bothered to update it with actual features. They haven't added an actual gameplay element for like 3 years. When I got the email that they were closing the game I just died inside. I started playing this when I was 7 and never really stopped. This game is amazing.
Yeah I don't get how TT lasted so long when VMK felt a hell of a lot more fun to play Did you know you can still play the PoC game? There's an offline version of VMK somewhere and iirc the Pirates game is still on it. You can walk around most of the public rooms and everything, too. It's kind of haunting I think there's a standalone version of the Pirates game floating around out there as well
If I recall correctly, the ships just sit there and don't do anything. Unless someone makes a faithful recreation of it, I'll never be able to totally eradicate someones ship via 5 golden cannonballs point-blank again. (For those who don't know, the PoC game was a team-based ship vs ship minigame, with Golden Cannonballs being a 1-hit-kill.)
what is there to even do in club penguin? all it looks like it you sit around as a penguin and talk your ass off, whereas toontown had at least SOME gameplay, even if it wasnt all that in-depth and a kids game, it was still fun for what it was
There are minigames and an economy, you can get shit for your house, etc. It's pretty much like Habbo Hotel or Webkinz or all that other shit, the developers do events and shit almost every week to keep it alive I speak from 4th grade experiences
Oh, and copious amounts of online dating.
Isn't there always I have memories of Runescape ERP prostitutes
I swear, every day, i wake up, and another piece of my childhood is dead. Like this, or when i learned that in a comic tie-in to the 90's x-men/spider-man cartoons, the universe was destroyed, killing all of them.
But SN you're like 14...
i spent my childhood on this game to max my lovely duck queen. you will be missed... goodbye queen duck 2001-2013. thanks for eating my parents money.
Disney did something similar to a game that was a huge part of my childhood, it was called Virtual Magic Kingdom. Even though it was co-developed by Sulake and it had many similarities to Habbo Hotel, the visuals were amazing, as well as the games. It lasted about three years (Way longer than it should have), but got closed to move the staff to either some Cars online game or some Tinkerbell/Pixie game. It's a shame, too; That Pirates of the Caribbean game was addictive as hell.
That was a huge part of my childhood. I remember when it closed, too. T'was a sad day.
Oh, and copious amounts of online dating.
I remember that too. I also remember the horrible chat filter that made every other sentence sound unintelligible to outsiders due to people always trying to get around it.
i remember there was no actual chat box and the only way to communicate was to use pre-made messages like "Hey, let's go to <insert level name here>" or "Do you want to join me for <insert level name here>?" do i remember right?

Trying to get into the Toontown account I made when I was 10. Fuck. [editline]23rd August 2013[/editline]
they added in a chat system a few years ago it was pretty heavily filtered though
Was it VMK bad, where you couldn't even say numbers?
what WHAT
Yes. They're all dead.
yep. you had to say stuff like this one=won two=too three=tree four=for five=hive six=sick ten=tin
You forgot even, ate, and mine (I don't recall nine being used but I think that was it.)
Got into it. All of my friends are long gone. This is fun and nostalgic, yet depressing.
Holy shit this thread brought back memories of seeing some random new player in a street getting demolished by like 3 cogs and you'd hop in the fight and fully heal the dude and just slap all the cogs and basically save his life That game has so many childhood memories oh my god
I used to play this, then years later I made an account for my little brother to play in 2008. I checked and the account is still there... Welp time to go race some little kids.
Pirates of the carribean online is going down too :(
And another MMO falls to challenge the longevity of Furcadia

I didn't even finish collecting all the pies ;'(
No, not my first MMO. I stole my parent's credit card for this shit when I was little, NO.
Did they ever add in the Kraken in Pirates Of The Carribean and whatever was beyond the "Under Counstuction" sign in ToonTown? It would be cool if Disney released both of those (although its very unlikely) even if its not even close to being finished.
My childhood. Going away. I remember back when I played Toontown, Sellbot HQ wasn't even opened. Right now I'm playing it from the start (since I don't remember my old account at all), but I know I used to be at +120 Laff Points. At this rate, I'll never be able to fight the CEO in the game... :c I was also waiting on seeing this thread be posted, but thought about posting it myself. Though, I was afraid people would bash on me, but it's nice to see people actually going to miss the game.

Was my childhood deprived or something. Like half the shit people reminisce about ive either never heard of or never bothered playing, be it runescape or this. My entire childhood consisted of half-life and its many mods/spin-offs, primarily TFC and later Sven-Coop.

Lol I just watched a 16 laff guy run to his death by fighting a level 7.
