Yeah man, Valve betrayed the consumers when they started adding more content and gameplay features. What a bunch of corporate fat-cats with their consistent updates and practically free non-mandatory gameplay additions. Really, shut up everyone.

I love seeing people who still have some sense left. Also, to the people bitching about how the classes aren't distinct anymore because, you clearly have a bizarre and contradictory view on distinct. If you consider that in the beginning, you had just nine classes. That is nine distinct appearance. Now, lets say they add three hats to each class (each class has three hats and then their base appearance). That is 36 distinct appearances. Now, you add three new weapons to each class (all base items were counted as a single item instead of as one per slot and the new ones were counted individually, this number would be much higher if you considered each slot as a separate, distinct item). That's 144 distinct appearances. And that only roughly accounts for the original class updates and the original hat update. Not any of the new ones. I could go and figure that out, but I really don't want to take the time. Regardless, my point is that these have done nothing to make the characters less distinct. It has, in fact, made them more distinct. It has gone from simply being a distinction between classes, to a distinction between every player. A heavy running around with the KGB, Primeval Warrior Medal, and Officer's Ushanka, will look notably different from a heavy running around with the Fists of Steel, no medal, and the Hard Counter.
oh. it's this shit again and by shit I mean people griping about cosmetic items
It has gone from simply being a distinction between classes, to a distinction between every player.
and THAT is the problem.
and THAT is the problem.
except it's not really a problem it sounds more like jealously because you don't have the same items and i can concur that from every single person who talks about "TF2 being ruined" the art style being ruined just sounds like an excuse
I honestly don't know why everyones complaining about THIS update. This is probably one of the only good recent ones? The items fit in the style + there's no SHOGUN cap
wow am I the only one who has a problem not with all the hats (ill-fitting though they may be) but with the droves of stupid gimmicky weapons like I don't have a problem with cosmetic replacement items in the game if they are simply cosmetic. they may not fit in with the excellent atmosphere/theme that valve originally established for TF2 which is unfortunate but since they don't have an impact on gameplay it doesn't really matter. the issue for me is that by this point there are so many pointless, gimmicky, and imbalanced weapon and item replacements that the game is nigh unrecognizable compared to how it started out, which is what made me stop playing. the overwhelming tide of unnecessary additions has altered the core gameplay to the point that it's not even TF2 for me anymore "hats are bad because they make character silhouettes unrecognizable" is the worst argument ever btw

Stupid gimmicky promotional items, while they may or may not be craftable, still ruins the experience. Me and a friend stopped playing TF2 because it was getting too complicated with weapons and shit like that, the point of a class-based system is for each class to have its role, not having items that change stats. Yeah, some of the original pre-polycount items are good, but most of the new items have lately been giving each class new weapons with different stats, or different abilities, somewhat nullifying each class's role more and more.
somewhat nullifying each class's role more and more.
bullshit
Y'all be bitchin' about how the sillulettes changed, yet you don't realize we need not them anymore. What for? Class recognization? Ha-ha. We heave Heavies and Soldiers faster than Scouts. Snipers, Scouts and Engineers dealing afterburn damage. Pyros destroying sappers. Demomans mastering close-quarters combat, while being faster then scouts. Medics dealing more damage than pyros. ..and so on. Don't be silly.
Looking back on it, one way or another, TF2 would've died. People should've shut up about the medic way back when and just played TF2 when it was good. Now we have 50,000 different pieces of shit to collect and a completely different unbalanced game.
except it's not really a problem it sounds more like jealously because you don't have the same items and i can concur that from every single person who talks about "TF2 being ruined" the art style being ruined just sounds like an excuse
You're really being fucking ignorant little prick, are you? Jealously has absolutely nothing to do with this. I wouldn't even care if someone had a farting rabbit had made out of infinite power of Christ, even if cost as much as Black Lotus. You doesn't even have any point in this discussion, all you do is call everything "bullshit" and everyone "jealous" because you feel the need to justify all the time and money you've wasted on collecting retarded hats instead of playing the actual game.
Is this just 60 dollar tf2 items with a game if you get bored of tf2 for a while?
because you feel the need to justify all the time and money you've wasted on collecting retarded hats instead of playing the actual game.
i don't even have hats lol
After they implemented coaching I understood Valve's plans with TF2, now I don't blame them anymore. They're using TF2 as their testing grounds for future games. Micro-transactions to support cash-shops in Steamworks, coaching system to implement into DoTA 2, marketing based on promo items. Those are very smart choices even though they don't make the game itself any better.
i don't even have hats lol
*cough*
nevermind i have like four
-snip-
*cough*
yeah like four hats all pretty old and i have the sam and max stuff because i'm a huge fan of sam and max and bought the games it's just i exactly remember how people's ideas about hats turned around, and it turned around right about the time they got rid of idle-ing you can try to convince yourself that it's not jealously, but it so obviously is i mean i don't hold it against you but don't bullshit people about it

How much more stubborn can you be, geez. If you look at my items, you'll see a nicely sorted piles of gear, one of each per class and one hat for every class I played most with, Spy, Pyro and Engineer. I uncrated heavy unusual once but I traded it right away for a key, a crate and some weapons that were missing from my collection, because never played heavy and I couldn't care less about by hat being on fire or dispensing cookies and milk. If you don't have anything reasonable to say, just don't post.

The Heavy hat looks pretty cool.
Really, shut up everyone.

THANK YOU! I love seeing people who still have some sense left.
Why the pro-TF2 sound like more assholes than other people (with these lines for example)? You know you are on a forum and everyone can share their own part of opinion, guys? And yeah, I'm really disappointed by TF2 right now, but it doesn't mean I can't play it sometimes, though a lot less than before. The whole hat/trading/promo buisness, the lack of optimization, the original art style being spitted, and the gameplay being an unbalanced hugefest (I prefered when there were only default and unlockable weapons, maybe Polycount weapons too, because you were able to know what enemy you were against and how to counter it) make me stop to play this game every week. Two years ago, it was still the best 20 euros I spend for this game, but there are too many updates (I don't care the fact it was free, I care about quality first) to enjoy it until its real end.
I make such an artsy post and get only 1 rating. :smith:
Still if they updated it a little less like max. 2 times a week it gets annoying finishing a update, open the game and have to update again
