Which is a shame because it won't be because "the ps4 is so good" but because "the xbox is so bad"
It's really a bit of both. No one wanted a PS3 because it had a shit launch with barely any games. The exclusives it did have were awful (see LAIR) and people just assumed Sony was going to fail. Once Playstation started picking up more and far better exclusive games people, including me, started seeing how much better Sony's console was. I was already planning to buy the PS4 over the new Xbox because it's now starting to become, "xbox has no games." Plus, now, they're shooting themselves in the foot and they're losing more and more people each day with this shit.
A cheaper version in some form of subscription? If this might be true, it sound really bad.
lmao
What? No real gamer would stand for the shit Microsoft is doing. If a "gamer" says always-online CONSOLES is a good idea then they are just sheep.
Day 1, the servers go down because too many people rushed to buy Xboxes.
no thanks, ill stick with my PC.
Way to go Microsoft. My love and fanboyism for Halo cannot hold me as a customer for your consoles. I'm sorry, but I can't purchase the new "Ad and Appbox".
I fucking knew it.
They'll be available on the Xbox live store, for a low, low price!
A cheaper version in some form of subscription? If this might be true, it sound really bad.
That's actually a thing right now, you can buy an Xbox for cheap if you get a LIVE subscription along with it, just like with phones.
I fucking knew it.
To be fair, it doesn't seem like the PS4 is gonna have any retrocompatibility either (other than possibly Gaikai streaming, and with that you're fucked if you don't have a good internet connection and are near a Gaikai server)
They'll be available on the Xbox live store, for a low, low price!
£30 cheaper than most things in the xbox store
This is really shitty news.
It's not going to sell as well as you guys are making out. Most people don't read this and I'm sure as hell all parents know is that kids play Xbox, so they will buy the new one.
What defines a "real" gamer?
Someone who doesn't take the shafting companies like Microsoft give them.
The PS4 didn't play used games either: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1173427 Until Sony said it did. All I'm saying is calm the fuck down and wait for May 21st.
To be fair, it doesn't seem like the PS4 is gonna have any retrocompatibility either (other than possibly Gaikai streaming, and with that you're fucked if you don't have a good internet connection and are near a Gaikai server)
Or if a lot of your games aren't on PSN, or at least in Murrica like me. The new Xbox not having BC is just a kick to the balls after a vicious beating. Fuck this generation I'm buying a GameCube.
Dear Microsoft, Fuck you. Love, Real Gamers Everywhere
they wont read that they are not on the forum
You've just ruined any chance of businesses that have kids rooms with consoles in it to provide entertainment because NONE of them have an internet connection for a very good reason
Someone who doesn't take the shafting companies like Microsoft give them.
So people that don't play games or use Office? No matter what you do when it comes to software, you're giving Microsoft your money.
and families that don't have their consoles near a modem/dont see the point in being online gg microsoft
I can here the horrible cackle of Chad Warden in the distance. He smells death. No one is safe.
Didn't that troll move on anyway?
So people that don't play games or use Office? No matter what you do when it comes to software, you're giving Microsoft your money.
microsoft has a list of departments you know, Windows, Office, Xbox, Windows Phone, and inside xbox there's more departments, Xbox Music, Xbox Live, Xbox Consoles, Xbox for Windows (GWFL), Xbox for Windows Phone if one department ain't making money, they bite the dust, just like google and their departments
Someone who doesn't take the shafting companies like Microsoft give them.
That's being an informed customer and not a mindless consumer though. There is no "real" gamer. Gaming is a hobby and it's level of involvement is strictly dependent on you and what you do. To be honest, the "real" gamer is someone who likes games enough to call themselves a gamer.
What defines a "real" gamer?
Imo, a "real" gamer is someone who enjoys gaming without being interrupted by all kinds of social media nonsense, they just want the game itself. Requiring an internet connection at all times with max 3 minutes leeway most definitely gets in the way. Assuming true, saying it's fucking retarded is a monumental understatement.
So this next console lacks backwards compatibility too huh? Well... IF I decide to get a new console it'll definitely be a Playstation 4. Gotta love how you don't have to either buy your games again or just let them collect dust with every new generation on a PC though (in most cases).
PS4 has no backwards compatibility except for a plan by sony to bring PS1, PS2, and PS3 games over an onlive like system, which is as close as it gets but its going to suck for most of the world
99 dollar 360? Neat, now I will be able to have all those 3 exclusives I missed out on.
don't do it 99.99% likely it'll have a subscription and actually be about 300$
PS4 has no backwards compatibility except for a plan by sony to bring PS1, PS2, and PS3 games over an onlive like system, which is as close as it gets but its going to suck for most of the world
I'm assuming the classics will get ported over to the PS4 like they have with the PS3, so you'll get to keep all your PS1 and PS2 games
So the Ouya has a fighting chance now. Nope, couldn't keep a straight face.
Judging by the subscription price it seems that XBOX Live membership won't be going any time soon. Fuck having to pay £40 a year even to use Netflix, let alone play games online. Fucking ripoff and I hope every iteration of the XBOX fails until they stop treating their customers like absolute shit.
You know there's been loads of rumours that Sony's going to basically do the same for the next iteration of PSN right?
I'm assuming the classics will get ported over to the PS4 like they have with the PS3, so you'll get to keep all your PS1 and PS2 games
well iirc their new x86 processor ruined that chance, but im sure they'll figure out a way
Don't know why you guys expect backwards compatibility. That is a luxury feature that has never been a standard. The PS2 had it, and this generation the PS3 had it partially and the 360 partially. (PS3s now have it removed). Nothing else has ever had that. (Handhelds sure, but that is handheld gaming, and we're talking main consoles). It's a nice feature, don't get me wrong, but it's a luxury feature and not needed nor critical. I care more that the PS4 and 720's development time, man power and money, is spent on hot new games and features, not playing some old crappy game I like from 2005. If I want that, I better make damn sure to actually keep old consoles. Holding onto the past HURTS the industry by wasting time and money and manpower, and it is NOT a requirement and SHOULD NOT be. You want your old games? You know you're going to want them? KEEP YOUR CONSOLES. I have kept every single console I own, and their games, because I KNOW I WANT TO PLAY THEM. That should not be the responsibility of a modern 2013 console, to be able to play/emulate your old 1999 PSX games. Even if it didn't hurt the industry or development of these consoles, it still shows an over entitlement issue. Hell, it shows a lot of issues or irony/hypocrisy. But that is another argument for another time.
So the Ouya has a fighting chance now. Nope, couldn't keep a straight face.
I already have an Ouya, it's called my Nexus 7 + a controller and an emulator full of NES, SNES, Genesis and N64 games
