That's actually a thing right now, you can buy an Xbox for cheap if you get a LIVE subscription along with it, just like with phones.
Oh, I was not aware of that. I just bought my xbox and afterwards bought gold with my credit card.
So we're taking baseless rumors and random rantings from analysts as remotely true now?
gg microsoft sony wins by default
You know there's been loads of rumours that Sony's going to basically do the same for the next iteration of PSN right?
If they require Playstation Plus for PSN then I don't think that's too much of an issue assuming they keep the instant games collection. That shit is the best thing to happen this generation of consoles and they're gonna keep it for the PS4 no doubt.
Looks like Microsoft is trying to go the mobile route with consoles. Pay an absurd amount for the console itself or pay a reduced amount with a fixed contract.
So we're taking baseless rumors and random rantings from analysts as remotely true now?
lets just say when MS at E3 confirms always-on DRM I will not be surprised and will expect Microsoft to cop a lot of shit for even remotely thinking about it
Looks like Microsoft is trying to go the mobile route with consoles. [editline]8th April 2013[/editline]
So we're taking baseless rumors and random rantings from analysts as remotely true now?
Welcome to internets.
well iirc their new x86 processor ruined that chance, but im sure they'll figure out a way
Not even software emulation like the PS3 Slim. That is just annoying, especially when emulators for both PS1 and 2 for x86 run great these days.
So if i try to relax on the weekend by playing games and the internet goes out for a day due to the company servicing/fixing/improving it, half of my weekend is ruined? Fuck off.
well iirc their new x86 processor ruined that chance, but im sure they'll figure out a way
How do the PS1 games work so well on the PSP/PS Vita when the processors are different? They use the same download as the PS3 too. Legit question cause I don't know too much about this :v:. I'm sure they'll just make a new emulator anyway for the PS1 at least, can't be too much work.
Welcome to Facepunch.
Fixed.
(roughly £326, although likely higher in the UK)
Ps4 for me please Sony
Oh for fuck's sake; this bullshit reboot-naming syndrome is infecting consoles TOO? I mean seriously, why give your 8th Generation console the same name as your outdated 6th Generation console? I'd rather they call it 720 or freakin' Durango, anything but naming it after the original; the confusion is going to be insane if they actually stick with "Xbox" as the name for their machine. Now I'm not a consolite, but if I were, I'd be more inclined to get a PS4 this time around. Let's be hoping this fails hard and drives Microsoft out of our gaming race and back into designing operating systems.
Not even software emulation like the PS3 Slim. That is just annoying, especially when emulators for both PS1 and 2 for x86 run great these days.
I think its come to the point where every man and his dog has a PS2 therefore you have a PS1 and a PS2, that's basically really all you need, PS3 on the other hand well id like to see some of that on the ps4 you know, unless companies take the time to port over old games
That isn't expensive, considering the PS3 was $600+ at one point.
Fixed.
More like 'welcome to anywhere on the goddamn internet'. We had dumb as shit rumors about the PS4 with no credible sources too that were disproven during the announcement and I expect this to go the same way.
hello hi can we change the thread title to "analyst believes new xbox will be always online and cost 500 dollars"? because this is not a confirmation thanks
"Sony wins by being less terrible than Microsoft"
The new XBOX sounds more like something EA would develop not Microsoft. But then again! :v:
Why are they calling this just "Xbox"? do they want people confusing this with the system before the 360?
RIP Xbox PS4 is going to sell so well it's going to be mental.
Honestly I doubt it. Generally speaking the thing which will matter more is where the initial unit pushed end up with. And it doesn't really matter if it's always on or not.
They'll just gain their customers from the smart/apple TV market.
Nice of Microsoft to turn the after-next gen console war into the classical Sony vs Nintendo again.
But the classical was Nintendo vs. Sega
The Console war just lost a Competitor, now it is just Nintendo and Sony battling.
hello hi can we change the thread title to "analyst believes new xbox will be always online and cost 500 dollars"? because this is not a confirmation thanks
Honestly, when thurrot says something it's because it will be that way. The guy has extremely good sources on Microsoft and he rarely ever misses on his predictions.
Well, sounds like the winner of this generation of consoles has already been decided. Who the hell genuinely though always online was a good idea.
But the classical was Nintendo vs. Sega
Neo-classical. Get with it nerd. That aside, I take these as baseless assumptions. Especially the name, even if it makes sense. Do you hear people say they play their 360 more or their Xbox? Chances are, it's Xbox, and you instantly assume it is a 360. We haven't had the original Xbox for 8 years now. Why would we be referring to it?
The Console war just lost a Competitor, now it is just Nintendo and Sony battling.
Except you have 1) Fanboys 2) Un educated consumers (a much larger group than 1 and as it includes parents who buy things for their children) It will still sell shitloads recardless, sadly
Dear Microsoft, Fuck you. Love, Real Gamers Everywhere
too bad your """"""""""""""""""real"""""""""""""""""" gamers make up a tiny fraction the market, how come nobody realizes that ""casual"" gaming is the future and there's nothing you can do about it
