too bad your """"""""""""""""""real"""""""""""""""""" gamers make up a tiny fraction the market, how come nobody realizes that ""casual"" gaming is the future and there's nothing you can do about it
because casual gaming is facebook and iPad
Don't know why you guys expect backwards compatibility. That is a luxury feature that has never been a standard. The PS2 had it, and this generation the PS3 had it partially and the 360 partially. (PS3s now have it removed). Nothing else has ever had that. (Handhelds sure, but that is handheld gaming, and we're talking main consoles).
It's called the Wii.
It's called the Wii.
I forgot about that, sorry. Either way, the Wii stopped support of it (European Wiis, do not support it). It was never a standard and probably never will be at this rate. Perhaps it will, who knows?

(Handhelds sure, but that is handheld gaming, and we're talking main consoles). It's a nice feature, don't get me wrong, but it's a luxury feature and not needed nor critical. I care more that the PS4 and 720's development time, man power and money, is spent on hot new games and features, not playing some old crappy game I like from 2005. If I want that, I better make damn sure to actually keep old consoles. Holding onto the past HURTS the industry by wasting time and money and manpower, and it is NOT a requirement and SHOULD NOT be. You want your old games? You know you're going to want them? KEEP YOUR CONSOLES. I have kept every single console I own, and their games, because I KNOW I WANT TO PLAY THEM. That should not be the responsibility of a modern 2013 console, to be able to play/emulate your old 1999 PSX games. Even if it didn't hurt the industry or development of these consoles, it still shows an over entitlement issue. Hell, it shows a lot of issues or irony/hypocrisy. But that is another argument for another time.
No one else? How about wii and gamecube?
It's called the Wii.
And the Wii U, too. A recent console is still providing backwards compatibility while MS and Sony are shutting the door on such a concept.
No one else? How about wii and gamecube?
I'm not sure about the Gamecube. It could play GBA games with the Gameboy Player, but there's no way you could shove an N64 cartridge into that thing.
most of the gen jums changed formats
Oh no I got ninja'd
Holding my breath here.
Lmao this is so funny. I almost can't wait to see what happens when SimCity5 happens except with a console launch that is 5X bigger, 5X more expensive, and involves $500 hardware I'm getting visions of nobody being able to use their xbox on launch week due to overloaded servers, which will permanently damage the brand of Xbox so much that the whole product crashes and MS drop out of the running. Not to mention millions of dollars in loss just from chargebacks and returns. OH BOY THIS IS GONNA BE GOOD [editline]8th April 2013[/editline] I'm just saying, if Steambox comes into the running under these conditiosn they will have market domanance garunteed. It's almost too easy.
And the Wii U, too. Trying to emulate the cell simply wouldn't work, so they are trying to compromise with the PS3 game streaming
Hear that whistle? It's the sound of the Xbox bombing.
Its the sound of progress my friend.
But sony literally can't. Trying to emulate the cell simply wouldn't work, so they are trying to compromise with the PS3 game streaming
I'm not too familiar with how the PS4 is set up, so I'll give that to you.

Hm. I have a mom-and-pop store nearby that specializes in stocking and renovating games/systems from all the previous generations, so maybe for this cycle I'll just purchase every older console I have never owned and all of the worthy games for them. The consoles themselves cost about as much as a new game nowadays at most, so I may actually save money this way.
No one else? How about wii and gamecube?
I already stated I forgot about the Wii, and that its currently produced model no longer gives backwards compatibility. The Gamecube to my knowledge, never had any, which is why I never mentioned it. Also the Wii-U, forgot about that one too.
How do the PS1 games work so well on the PSP/PS Vita when the processors are different? They use the same download as the PS3 too. Legit question cause I don't know too much about this :v:. I'm sure they'll just make a new emulator anyway for the PS1 at least, can't be too much work.
The emulators are built into the firmware, you're downloading the compressed disk image.
I'm just saying, if Steambox comes into the running under these conditiosn they will have market domanance garunteed. It's almost too easy.
Why would Valve's always-online console do better than Microsoft's always-online console
Why would Valve's always-online console do better than Microsoft's always-online console
Because Valve never does anything wrong
I'm just saying, if Steambox comes into the running under these conditiosn they will have market domanance garunteed. It's almost too easy.
What? why? Hell, I would trust microsoft way more (and I already don't trust anyone with always online) with an online console than I would with a steam/valve console always online. Steam in general goes down way too goddamn much just as a platform, like fuck I would buy an actual console that required it to be always online.
This is why I mostly play PC games now.
You know when your console is this bad, expecting people to pay for a subscription is just a flat out insult to potential customers.
I hope Wii U gets more sales than this pathetic shit. It shouldn't even be allowed to call this thing a "console". Can't wait for my new PS4!
This is the statement i've been making plans to get a PS3 really early so I can familiarize myself with PS4 once it releases, wanted to try PS3 exclusive games.
You know when your console is this bad, expecting people to pay for a subscription is just a flat out insult to potential customers.
Like this hasn't been a thing since Xbox Live came out? Correct me if I'm wrong but you're severely limited to what you can do online with your Xbox if you don't have a paid XBL subscription
I know what I'm not buying. That price is fuckin' steep.
I'm so tired of devs doing this shit. Why is this acceptable? Well, that's because people buy it, and in large ammounts, and that baffles me. They are going to continue treating the consumers like shit, because not enough people care. Not until a large majority of gamers says ENOUGH and boycot this crap, it's not going to stop.
So people that don't play games or use Office? No matter what you do when it comes to software, you're giving Microsoft your money.
Ok...? What does their software have to do with the gaming side of things?
Nice to see Microsoft is helping the PS4 and Wii U become this gen's top consoles.
