Nurse Who Fell For Australian DJ's "Kate Middleton" Prank Call Commits Suicide

Is there even any proof that the reason she killed herself had anything to do with this phone call? I mean, unless she lost her job or something, I really can't see how this would in any way drive somebody to suicide, and the article makes no mention of the nurse having received any official punishment for falling for the prank.
According to the hospital they were supporting her and she hadn't been disciplined for it.
Very odd situation, especially given the fact she was married with children.
Do you think the hospital would say the opposite regardless whether they did or not? Look at the outcry over the actions of the radio hosts. There would be similar outcry if the hospital's management admitted to punishing her (firing).
In my line of work I've dealt with many employers/contractors of many industries/fields and the one thing I've learned about most is, it's easier for them to lie.
The one thing that gets me is the media walks away every time and the blood is ALWAYS on their hands. No one would fucking give a shit if this "news" wasn't force fed to every mindless drone who tunes in. Look back to likes of Amy Winehouse, she was hounded by the media big time some very nasty shit written about an individual who was obviously fragile and she ultimately drinks herself to death (suicide in my books). Then it's the "oh so sad story" and then moving on to their next victim.
saying that someone committed suicide because they were pranked shows imo a pretty strong lack of understanding about suicide
“The death is being treated as unexplained.”
I somehow don't think she killed herself
she was hardly even related to the stunt, she just took the call and passed it on
A friend of mine is convinced it was an assassination.
I'm like "Well no not really, she'd likely have been disciplined but our government doesn't just bump off people who they don't like."

careful, they might hear you
I see it logical that she killed herself after being pranked so badly. How many of you would stand some rich assholes making bank on terribly sad pranks while you have to be busy saving lives each day every day for peanuts in comparison?
There was once a program on TV about rich kids doing jobs like selling fruit to make them feel the value of money and one girl said "If people have to live like this they might as well kill themselves". That girl, who burned 7000€/mo on clothes and ruined various businesses from their parents, can now be satisfied, someone in the world has followed her advice.

wtf are you talking about?
true, in the UK prank calls are illegal and its even more serious if you take confidential information/impersonate a official/someone. I'm not sure about Australia though.
Depends on the situation more than anything else. What happened here was more akin to fraud than a wacky prank call. However in radio you can play the audio of a prank call providing you have the other parities permission.
Well at least that's how it is in the UK, Australia I don't know. I've heard rumors that the station involved has form for making daft prank calls like this; one such rumor states that station had a 14 year old girl to admit to being raped at 12 in a lie-detector prank. And another in which they told a kid live on air that she'd messed up their exams.
Makes whatever Radio 1 do seem incredibly tame:

Unfortunately this is correct - on the Kyle and Jackie O show, they did that - and after asking that question, the girl admitting she was raped, just kept going and going and going with questions.
The media regulator in Australia, ACMA, responded to it by fining the radio company, Austereo.
Without a doubt they'll be punished by the regulator for this saga, and hopefully these terrible prank calls will stop - actually hopefully they'll stop these shock jocks... because none of them are funny. These types of prank calls are not funny.

heres some information on it. Kyle and Jackie O are just one of Austereo's shows.
The police are doing their usual thing, they won't call it suicide. However, its not suspicious and they are not looking for anyone involved which in my eyes means suicide.
Or a very well done murder.
I guess everything else that can kill you doesn't exist in your eye as well.
I would say heart attack before i would say suicide, unless they say they found a lot of empty pill bottles near by.
She committed suicide over a prank call? Are you serious? o.O
“The London Ambulance service attended and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Inquiries are continuing to establish the cirumstances of the incident.

It's not been confirmed or denied as a suicide.

Well it's very possible they could have committed suicide because of the shame/humiliation felt by being pranked, if the prank is high profile. You'd have to be fairly fragile and probably troubled in the first place but that's why you shouldn't prank strangers if you don't know how they'd take it
She was a 40-something women who just lost her career which she invested all her life into.
I don't know about you but trying to start a new career at 20-something is bad enough.
It's not uncommon for people to kill themselves when they've been screwed over like that.
The presenters have spoken to the media http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2245727/Australias-2Day-FM-DJ-Mel-Greigs-tears-interview-Michael-Christian-suicide-nurse-Kate-hospital.html

She didn't lose her job, she didn't even get told off.
Oh I heard otherwise.
I still don't get this...so they played a prank on her and she killed herself? Why?
(User was banned for this post ("Didn't read the OP" - Megafan because I'm a pissy faggot))
I'm pretty sure MI6 killed her.
She definitely had other problems going on in her life. Nobody just kills themselves because some information got leaked.
Overreacting. Automatically considered idiot.
