doesnt matter. if it has an always online feature, that kind ruins the point of having a console :U
Okay that's bullshit, I'm fed up with this motion controller shit and I can't see why they would invest even more on it.

doesnt matter. if it has an always online feature, that kind ruins the point of having a console :U
Not particularly. Almost every single owner of these consoles has an Internet connection today. But it would limit how you use the console a bit more. You wouldn't be able to just take it with you to a new place if you didn't know there was an Internet connection available.
Honestly I think this next generation of consoles is gonna fucking fail They seem to all be catering towards being multimedia devices rather than gaming consoles..Fuck, the current generation seems to see use mostly as DVD/Bluray, Netflix, Youtube, etc players rather than actual gaming machines...sure, it's nice that they have these features but its getting to the point where they really should just start selling other devices, I think, and go back to consoles being just that - dedicated machines for gaming.
I love how as soon as any sort of rumor comes up that involves a console having potentially more power than current PCs all of FP gets butt hurt and starts bashing them, saying they will fail or claiming that it is 'miles behind'. I love PC gaming as much as the next guy, so don't get me wrong. It's just funny. If a rumor comes up that says a console will be weak/have some major flaw, the majority of FP takes it as truth and gets a raging erection while going on about how good PCs are and how consoles suck. I don't think it will have a 16-core CPU, but if it does then it certainly isn't 'out of date already'.
You do know these things are called rumors for a reason, right?
I wasn't really talking about this in particular, I'm talking about what I think of the current generation of consoles and from what seems to be the current trend...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. I bet it also had 3000000000000 TB of Memory. And 100Gb Of ram.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. I bet it also had 3000000000000 TB of Memory. And 100Gb Of ram.
You don't know how computer illiterate they could have been. This cpu that the next xbox will have could probably have had 1GHz total and they would call it powerful because they don't have anything else to compare it to.
It also has a 10 Megabit pipe too.
Well, this is a rumor, and I'm not going to look through 6 pages of shitfest to see if this has been posted. Consoles go around things quite a bit differently than a PC does - it's hard to optimize your game for a lot of hardware (and generally developers won't bother optimizing their programs for many cores), and that is why the XBOX 360 and PS3 still actually play games. The XBOX 360 used a tri-core POWERPC 3.2GHz CPU, and while it is and was inferior to many other CPUs, it was a tri-core. In 2004 the Prescott architecture Pentium 4s was released, and none of them were dual cores. This is because pretty much nothing was optimized for more than one core at the time, but that wasn't a problem for the XBOX 360. The Xenon processor also had a very fast FSB compared to many desktop processors, and they used eDRAM (a very fast form of RAM) in the Xenon processor. The 1MB cache isn't much, but bear in mind that applications will be coded directly for this hardware, and they therefore have very much control over how to use it. The Xenon uses a 23-pipeline (if I got my facts right) and this allows for a pretty high clock-rate, though it has got a problem if it needs to fetch something from memory or whatever, as it'll then waste clock-cycles (just look at the Prescott Pentium 4 and its 31 stage pipeline). This is however, in contrast to the Pentium 4, not that big of a problem, again because of the control. If everything was written perfectly, and no clock-cycles were wasted, the Pentium 4 would be pretty fast at its clock-speed, but sadly it doesn't work that way. Anyhow -this 16 core processor would kinda resemble the Xenon, as it'll have a fairly high core count in comparison to mainstream processors. If they can optimize for this, it won't be bad, and it shouldn't be compared to AMD's Bulldozer, really.
I need atleast 1000 cores pls
This would end up just like the PS3 - advertised as having super-duper technology, but in the end it wasn't even that good and was there to basically just to call PS3 the most powerful console, and apparently only made things harder for developers. I'm sure that Microsoft would learn from Sony's mistakes and would not put in something that would backfire.
RUMOR: Next XBOX to cost 600 dollars!
*Cough cough*
AMD is currently makeing CPU/GPU for both consoles this round, chances are the Xbawx is going to use something along the lines of their APU series, I wouldn't be suprised if they were 2 octo core APU's and 2GB system ram [editline]11th April 2012[/editline]
Anyhow -this 16 core processor would kinda resemble the Xenon, as it'll have a fairly high core count in comparison to mainstream processors. Probably not going to happen. what's been rumored so far seems a bit bullshit to me.
16 CORES! each running at 100mhz
12 core meg pipe
