I really don't think making FO4 for last gen and current gen consoles is a good thing. I just hope PC users won't get fucked in the end by console limitations ( for example The Strip in FNV being in two parts instead of one big one)
We will but we'll do what we did for Skyrim and remove loading screens for shit like Whiterun.
there are plenty of drastically better engines for a fallout game, not the least of which is ID tech 5, the engine that only bethesda owned studios are allowed to use. fallout 4 on unreal 4 would be a dream come true, the latest RED Engine would obviously be excellent for that type of game (obviously this would never happen because of competition between CD and beth but neither would RAGE engine like you suggested). even cryengine would probably be fine.
I still think GTA V's rendition of RAGE would be best. Think about it, Blaine County already pretty much looks like the Mojave Wasteland anyway. The game natively supports first and third person(With, incidentally, better first person gunplay than Gamebryo :v:), it supports XP and levelups, it's quite a stable and gorgeous game, and then there's native support in-engine for vehicles. Simply not including any by default will satisfy the purists while people like me who don't care if the auto industry was one of the Great War's casualties can enjoy their post-apocalyptic motoring fix. It's really a win-win-win, and in a perfect world Bethesda would have access to RAGE to make Fallout on. Sadly, the only way FO4 would happen on RAGE is if R* bought the IP, something not even they can afford to do, so we'll never see that. Oh well.
I would like to point out that John Carmack himself has said that Id Tech 5 is completely unsuitable for open-world games, especially The Elder Scrolls. Source
Maybe that's why its a modified version then? I still think its gonna be a gamebyro rehash again regardless, and the longer then average development cycle of these games is probably why it still supports old gen and Creation is super flexible in hardware.
Just cause you like two things doesn't mean that they make sense to put them together. Saying that is like when kids go "I want zombies and gta and evrything is open and i want slowmo and"
To be fair you just described Undead Nightmare with cars instead of horses so yeah I think that'd be just fine
funny back when New Vegas was first released everyone was all jumping on the 3-is-better-bandwagon how times change...
actually with bethesda games the public opinion goes in the opposite direction Bethesda releases a new game, everyone thinks it's the hottest shit and the best game Beth ever fucking released, and then the flaws become more and more apparent (aside from the obvious Bethbryo flaws that have been there since Oblivion) and people start saying "the last one was a better game". The only reason NV breaks this chain is because Beth only published it, they did none of the actual work (except the engine, as mentioned). And NV, even with a surprise "lol we release a year early" thrown in, still managed to be better than 3, before we even knew it was unfinished.
I am willing to accept a Bethesda game once they get their shit together. Their fucking gamebryo engine ruined Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim for me. Well, that and just their lazy unpolished design in general.
Why the fuck does everyone hate the Gamebryo/Creation Engine so much? I know Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Skyrim were buggy and ran like ass, but that's not the fault of the engine. It's the fault of the developer. I mean games like Civilization 4, Bully, and Rift ran fine, and they all used the Gamebryo Engine. The Engine is not the one to blame here guys.

I'll lose my shit in excitement when there's an actual announcement.
None of those except (arguably) vehicles are engine features.
Except every single one of them are engine features necessary for a Fallout game.
Why the fuck does everyone hate the Gamebryo/Creation Engine so much? The Engine is not the one to blame here guys.
Because I've put over two thousand hours into Gamebryo between FO3 and FNV and I can 100% assuredly say the engine is SHIT. Its only redeeming feature is ease of modding, and even that has bullet points. Wanna add custom weapon anims? Well Fuck you and Fuck your uncle, bub, 'cause it ain't gonna happen! XRE - Cars? Under the hood they function almost identically to ye olde suspension cars of the GM11 era. They're powered by about as close to a forcer motor as one can get in Gamebryo(Two 'guns' that shoot a drum), suspension springs consist of axis joints stretched and abused beyond hope, etc. All that hacky bullshit just to get a reasonably driveable car into the game! CE is a massive improvement, though. I've only put ~300 hours into Skyrim, but in that time I've managed to complete every non-radiant quest that was offered to me, make it about 75% to the ridiculously high level cap, all while modded to the same extent FNV is. 99.9% less CTDs.
Hopefully they ditch that re branded Gamebryo engine and use Unreal Engine.
I wouldn't mind a spiced up Creation Engine, but it would be sick if it was on UE4. The Oblivion version of Gamebryo was complete garbage, but I didn't have many issues with Skyrim's Creation.

Trying not to get excited about a potential new Fallout game is one of the hardest challenges I have faced in my adult life.
We just need a character like Veronica to make things better. Or Arcade.
The project name has since been removed :v:
