If RPGs weren't my favorite kind of games, I would definitely regret buying my Vita. It's a shame that it doesn't get more games, it's a pretty solid unit. But, the majority of the games made for it are of pretty good quality.
The proprietary memory card was the one thing that made me and many of my friends pass on the ps vita like 2 years ago.
If it used microsd cards then it would have been the best thing ever. I can get 32gb microsd cards class 10 Sandisk ultras for $30 or a lexar class 10 64gb for $40. It would have been such an awesome mobile video player too but the proprietary card just makes it hard to buy into.
One valid reason on having the proprietary card was to avoid people being mad that their $1 32gb microsd card died with their files and photos. Not saying the ps vita cards were immune to such problems but it would happen less with the ps vita cards.
Pretty sure it's to make piracy as hard as possible. And it's working. The best Vita CFW can do is old PSP homebrew software. It's been two years and piracy isn't showing yet.

there's almost no piracy on the 3ds and you can use standard sd cards, there is no excuse.
I say almost no piracy because it does exist however it works by taking advantage of an exploit with a specific game and it only works on some old as fuck 3ds firmware. 2DSs are out of the box incompatible and you cannot downgrade your firmware.
Man Sony should have put two thumbsticks on the original PSP
The PSVita is built much better than the 3DS.
Comfortable, big screen, honestly I think its the best built handheld ever made.
Its a shame its not getting the attention it deserves.
And the operating system too, how quick it is to get around from a game, suspend it and load up messaging or something it's great. Was really impressed with how well that worked.
I had a psp and i loved the thing
but i never got a vita
I have a Vita.
It's fucking awesome.
Like I can play my PS3/4 games anywhere in the house.
Thats cool as fuck.
Too bad not many games support it. More than 80% of my PS3 games can't even use Remote Play because they're incompatible. Fuck that noise.

Haven't tried it since I can't afford a PS4, but Sony boasts that every(?) PS4 game is playable through remote play. Though PS3 to Vita remote play is a pile of shit.
Otherwise, contrary to PS3 to PS Vita Remote Play, PS4 to PS Vita Remote Play is designed on a hardware level, meaning that all games are automatically compatible, and it's only up to developers to make sure the controls adapt well to being played on a Vita instead of a DualShock 4
I recently got myself a Vita and love it, especially in combination with PS+.
I fucking love the screen on this thing, its beautiful; can't wait to get things like Binding of Isaac, I already have Hotline Miami and its just as fun handheld as it was on PC
I always have enjoyed the PS handhelds more than Nindeno Dwhatever, years ago when I had the PSP I couldn't stop playing it, Crash Tag Team Racing was so much fun I really wish I could get on vita
Too bad memory cards cost more than a jet made out of diamonds, I'm running out of space really fast

Part of it is plain management. I got a 16 GB bundled with my Vita and it's currently almost full with Persona 4 Golden, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Guacamelee, Blazblue CSE, Soul Sacrifice and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 so I'll be set for a while.
It's genuinely sadfor me to see how the Vita is seen as uncool, and a joke. Like if you says you like the Vita on the majority of gaming sites, people will laugh at you. Very sad, because the system is beautiful and powerful, and has a nice library of games.
I was heartbroken when I saw Tearaway sold less than 20,000 copies. That game is game of the decade material. When I think of Tearaway, I think of a sad kitten in a box in the rain and everybody walking by paying no mind to the poor kitten.

You can easily find a 32gb for under $50. It's a little bit much, but it's a one time thing and you fit a lot of games on a 32gb card. Personally I buy physical games unless they're only on PSN, or PS Plus freebies. I have like 2 dozen games and still 8gb left.
4 GB is useless
8 GB is okay if you only buy physical and PSN exclusives
16 GB is good and can be found for around 25$, still overpriced as fuck.
32 GB should be hard to reach and is about 50-60$ on sale

Yea, Tearaway sold shity, probably due to console launches.
Most of those are Japanese RPG's....I wouldn't call that solid.
Honestly, unless you're only playing Indie titles, then you must be regretting your Vita purchase. Most of the PSP's games (especially towards the last half of its life cycle) were JRPGs, and the Vita's shaping up to be similar.
Where's Dark_Alex when you need him?
I would jump instantly on the Vita if it grew a homebrew scene and support for all the emulatey goodness that the PSP offered.
Dark alex jumped to ps4.
Sony must push harder to bring out big titles, Vita might have a good amount of Indies and jrpgs, but those are not system sellers in the west.

Which is a shame because Persona 4: The Golden is one of the greatest games I have ever played, I have about 110 hours on it currently and probably will rack up like 200 going for platinum. I could have done it in less but I messed up my first play through.
Got Injustice on my Vita, the ingame models look really shit, they stand out so much
I played PS Allstars on vita and PS3 and it didn't really look too much different, this is instantly noticeable and looks really damn bad
Even LBP looks fine compared to the console version
Mortal Combat also looks like crap, it is surprising how bad some of the fighting game ports look.
Recently they've been playing a lot of ads in Australia for a Vita game call Invizimals that looks like some sort of AR pokemon ripoff. It's the first time I've seen an ad for the Vita outside of the internet.
I love my Vita and 3DS, but my 3DS gets more love because I have more games on it and more people have 3DSes. I can put my 3DS in my backpack and get up to 10 streetpasses if I'm lucky. I think Near for the Vita is good because rather than completely ripping off streetpass it tries to be different, but I think it shouldn't of relied on the internet to function and should of just worked like streetpass.
I'm sure that Amazon sold a ton of Vitas with the holiday bundle. The biggest problem for most people is that after buying a few games and a memory card, you have already invested an extra $100 or so into the system. While the Amazon deal was cheaper than the base system and came with a (small) memory card and 4 games. That's when I got mine, and I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't bundled.
the vita and its hardware is awesome. It's just sony being a bunch of tards that make people not want it. The thing that sold the psp the most was being able to hack it. If sony stopped trying to fight that, then this shit'll sell like hotcakes.

Fighting piracy is Sony being tards?
Am I missing something?
Yeah, I know there's homebrew but let's face it, the vast majority of people who had a hacked PSP had it for pirating games. Same with that 3DS cartridge.

Sony should allow the exact thing that killed developer support for their last handheld on their current handheld?
Are you really that oblivious to how much damage CFW ended up doing to the PSP? Most people used it exclusively for piracy, it provided little to nothing of note (no, emulation is not an incredible feat, go away), and caused most developers to keep away from the console thanks to the piracy. The Vita does not need that.
Isn't there already homebrew on the PS Vita?
If sony doens't start giving the vita love, pretty sure it'll just become another pirate tool. I mean theres nothing else to do with the damn thing.
If the Vita becomes a viable homebrew platform, I will likely invest in it. Its massive screen, massive capabilities, and dual analog sticks would lend it very well to such things.

Yeah that's because it's not a huge system anymore.
Where there is a will, there is a way. If you seriously think a propriatry memory card will stop pirating then you're just flat out silly.

People have proven that even propriety everything won't stop piracy with the iPhone. It does work a little bit if you can block all the known exploits with simple updates. It won't stop it, but it sure as hell helps mitigate it a bit.

In the west, maybe. In Japan, PSP games are still being made.

Yeah but is stopping piracy worth only selling a third of what you used to (in PS vitas case)
