isn't being a conservative meant to be about the government keeping it's mitts out of small businesses???!!!
Conservative means a lot. The original definition, indeed the one that applies to much, much more than just politics, is that you don't really welcome change as much as some. In this case, a conservative would not welcome the admission of marijuana into our society. I never said that I would stop the businesses. I don't have a reason to. I'd like to have a reason to because it makes me uncomfortable. But I don't. So toke up.
Hopefully this this will be done ASAP. This is extremely stupid. [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] Pretty sure they're in violation of State law for this.
but im pretty sure that the state law is in violation of the federal law...
I think the reasoning is because people keep abusing their ability to get medical marijuana. They purchase it, share or sell it, and then someone else who isn't supposed to have it, has it. My brother has been caught 7 times with pot that he isn't supposed to have this year alone. He's a minor so there isn't really any consequences for it unless they knew who was sharing or selling it.
LA resident here. There is a HUGE abuse problem
oh no people are abusing weed!? next they'll abuse pop rocks or fizzy drinks! [editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
As much as I respect the freedom to smoke pot (nonexistant as it may be) that it would become so integrated into a city, pot stores everywhere, would upset my conservative nature. Which is odd, because I don't seem to have any real justification for it. And also is odd because I smoke pot myself.
you are crazy, i'm 100% serious

I am crazy. Must have been the pot.
Coming from a former California resident, it was honestly too many. Also, are they really competing if they are selling basically the same thing, and are technically a medical provider? Considering there are over 700 in one city, what would be the traits a consumer would look for in a superior "medical" service? Better store music?
This seems to just be a big problem with medical marijuana laws. Whenever they occur, the stores pop up fucking everywhere. The cities then become shitholes in the eyes of half the population of the United States. Of course maybe this would be less of a problem if it were just legal in general. But we all know that.
There's 700+ dispensaries in this city alone. That's too much. That's way too much. I'm down for keep medical marijuana dispensaries open, but there should be a limit.
I'm sure theres more liquor stores than that
This is 2012. Theoretically you could Google that.
oh no people are abusing weed!? next they'll abuse pop rocks or fizzy drinks!
I want to slap every single person that uses abuse as an argument against mj/mmj. "Oh yer not dying of cancer? youre a junky then!"
I am crazy. Must have been the pot.
Must have been AIDS from some bad weed needles
there's literally fucking dispensary on every corner. It's too much.
I think you're underestimating the sheer size of LA.
I think you're underestimating the sheer size of LA.
And the sheer amount of people that get weed from dispensaries. We have capitalism, just like Starbucks, if there are too many dispensaries, the uneeded/crappy ones will go out of business.
This is incredibly disgusting. I don't think there's a living soul in Los Angeles who is against medical marijuana nowadays. EDIT: And yeah, we all know that half of the medical marijuana patients don't have any actual serious illness and the whole thing is just a charade to please some stodgy old fucks in Washington but marijuana is pretty much harmless. Tobacco and alcohol are far more dangerous and they're perfectly legal for adults.
I think you're underestimating the sheer size of LA.
LA resident here. Completely agree. I don't think it's overwhelming -- I can list maybe 25-30 dispensaries that get most of the people with licenses here anyways :v:. Seriously, almost everybody I know in my city (Culver City, on outskirts of LA) goes to ONE dispensary and there are at least 20 that are closer.
