The article mentions something about a near-riot, I never heard of this? Did I miss it on the news or did nobody report on it?
I have to laugh at people that think this will go through and secondly that it will stop spying.
The only way the Electoral College could be done reasonably is by making it so every county get's one vote, and the electoral college is only used when the popular vote is to close to call.
Ie. 3% deviance.
Also yes.. We need alternate voting and transfer over to a parliament type system which is more open to 3rd Parties.
That would give rural areas a lot more power than urban areas, though. The number of rural counties greatly outnumber the number of urban and "big-city" counties.
This wont do a thing.
It's like telling Death to stop taking lives.

You underestimate the power of a Diplomacy roll.
Aha, like that's ever going to happen.

Yet with the current system, California/Texas/New York practically determine who wins the election.

If death was on payroll and stop getting his monthly checks, I doubt he'd want to waste his time and money doing a job he's not paid to do anymore.
All this shit talk about safety, it's bullshit. America is as safe as it can be with 300 million people living there, no, this is population control

Last I checked, big brother checking my internet history wasn't a cull.
unless of course you're talking about the FEMA death camps lol
Does anyone know if the vote has happened yet or not?
I feel that most senators and congressmen are scared of saying anything about the NSA because it could cost them their entire political career.
I do hope this goes through, and NSA becomes defunded.
That's the problem with democratic politics
Presidents and Congressmen/MPs are too scared of doing what needs to be done because they're too precious about getting another term
Either that or they'll do some shuffling, rename the NSA, and then say the NSA is gone.
how about something like
uhh
Anti-Terrorist Coalition for the new name? "ATCO" sounds pretty catchy
Anyone else notice the dweeb in the corner taking notes? I think he might be working for......the press. What a great showing of american values, and now to take my own life.
Goodbye cruel world.
:suicide:
That's total bullshit. Anything that is being kept hush-hush has to go to Congress to request funding since it isn't part of their normally-allocated budget and can't have a public paper trail. Congress has the power to deny the NSA the funding they want, they're the ones in control and they have to be kept informed because if they feel they aren't being kept in the loop they can just say no. If they weren't paying attention to the briefing it's their own fault.
This is the stupidest form of political maneuvering. They knew exactly what was happening and gave it a seal of approval, and now they're turning around and trying to score political points by turning on the NSA because it's now public.
That's why something as inherently secret as NSA shouldn't exist; it's undemocratic.
How am I supposed to choose my representative if I don't know what decisions are they making?
Obviously, that doesn't apply to details like position of secret installations or things that pose direct security risk, but this shouldn't have ever been secret.

It's going up to vote this evening or tomorrow morning.
