So they just add the color for no reason?
No they add it so it's not clear. No one bought crystal pepsi because it looked weird. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
Except it's just the coloring so they have all the right to touch that shit, i prefer to drink a clear and colorless coke than having a health risk just for the drink to have a nice color on it.
1000 sodas a day is not a health risk. If that constitutes a health risk, then they should also take out the sugar, caffeine etc, because those will kill you in much smaller amounts.
God damn, what doesn't cause cancer these days?
You have to keep things at a balance. Cancer is caused by to much of a certain cell growing so its kinda funny to see that drinking/eating too much of something causes it.
If that constitutes a health risk, then they should also take out the sugar, caffeine etc, because those will kill you in much smaller amounts.
Caffeine is only lethal when your intake is over 10g - at the lowest. The average coffee has 50mg.
How about trying to use real sugar in soda drinks too? It's way better with real sugar.
Why not take our chips while you guys are at it? How the hell can cola cause cancer? Seriously, I know it can cause diabetes, but that if you digest too much sugary foods/beverages. But c'mon, cancer? Really?
Caffeine is only lethal when your intake is over 10g - at the lowest. The average coffee has 50mg.
And Caramel coloring only causes tumors when given to rats in doses the equivalent of a human drinking 1000 cans of soda a day.
I don't believe it. They say EVERYTHING causes cancer so if they're right, if its not from Coke, we're just gonna get cancer from something else anyway [editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
And Caramel coloring only causes tumors when given to rats in doses the equivalent of a human drinking 1000 cans of soda a day.
Yeah as usual it's just people being dramatic
But I love my cancer and I know it loves me to death.
There are hundreds of other things that give people cancer and more than half of them aren't banned. Tobacco causes cancer but it's not banned.
I drink probably a gallon of soda a day, not much of a regular exerciser, and been under a lot of stressful events. My teeth are fine (never had braces in my life and no cavities in my adult teeth) and I'm so skinny you can see my ribs easily. the joys of fast metabolism.
Oh my god what the fuck is wrong with you
Oh, cancer eh? What about smokes then? Everybody knows they cause cancer yet they're widely available. Just put up warnings and all that, don't be touchin' that coke
There's a difference. Tobacco is inherently carcinogenic. Coke isn't, but this superfluous coloring is. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
You have to keep things at a balance. Learning obviously causes cancer. Have you met a cancer patient who NEVER learned anything?
The problem with this is just as cancer drugs that show promise on animals don't always transfer well to humans, just because something is supposedly causing cancer on rats is no basis for banning it for human consumption. Maybe make it illegal to serve coke to rats?
The problem with this is just as cancer drugs that show promise on animals don't always transfer well to humans, just because something is supposedly causing cancer on rats is no basis for banning it for human consumption. That's how most medical tests are done at the base level.
For all those complaining that the test is invalid because they overdose the test animals with the compound in question, well that's how they test the dangerous dosage and side effects for ALL drugs. By increasing the dosage until half the animals show side effects, they can extrapolate the risks of side effects for the recommended dosage. If that calculated risk is significant enough then the FDA (or whatever organisation in your country) will consider banning that substance, forcing companies to use something else. The fact is that even if the risk seems small, the possible benefits are even smaller. The reason the FDA acts like this without consulting the populace for even single decision and restriction is because it'll slow down activities to a crawl and frankly, the decisions it makes are no brainers. Do you enjoy Coca Cola? Great! Now you can enjoy it with a decreased risk that you'll die from cancer because of that.

Anything we do that isn't living in the African savanna is probably fucking up our bodies really hard, so who cares
I went to TGI Fridays tonight and drank two glasses of Coca Cola, I'm going to die.
You know how I know you failed biology?
oh i know how you know his post was full of retardation.
1000 sodas a day is not a health risk. And yes, they do tests with high dosages for things like this, because that makes it much easier to actually see if it causes problems. If removing a specific coloring from my food will lower my chances of getting cancer by .000001%, I'd still be for it, because there's no advantage to keeping it.
There's a difference. Tobacco is inherently carcinogenic. Coke isn't, but this superfluous coloring is.
Hell, even tobacco isn't inherently carcinogenic (for the most part), it's just the method of delivery (smoking), and the method of production. And caramel colouring that is not carcinogenic, at any level, exists, so why not use that? (inb4 PROFITS!)
Take a shot of coke for every one ingredient in it that causes cancer.

Have fun bud.
Crystal Coke WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO [editline]20th February 2011[/editline] I mean, GOD FORBID the soda companies put ACTUAL INGREDIENTS in their soda
