Hes talking about if theres a war, and Christians decided to kill every non believer.
what the hell is up with facepunch and thinking up stupid-ass scenarios like this not all christians are preachers, you people should know that, and very, very, very few christians want to see atheists dead
I live in the South. It's not really dangerous. Expect to lose friends, but it's not dangerous.
I don't know where you live, but it must be in a pocket of understanding. I know people who have been fired because they are Atheist (Of course, his boss decided to find reasons to cover his ass), people get away with tons of shit like this because everyone just turns a blind eye.
Hes talking about if theres a war, and Christians decided to kill every non believer.
That wouldn't happen. Real Christians wouldn't do that anyways. It's obviously against the Bible, therefore, to a Christian, wrong.
you don't even need to do that religious people are everywhere in canada, very few are the "praise tha lawd" preachy ass bastard types
Well I wanna see them in their natural habitat my brain will probably go into David Attenborugh mode
Hes talking about if theres a war, and Christians decided to kill every non believer.
Christians are told to spread the word to nonbelievers not kill them
That wouldn't happen. Real Christians wouldn't do that anyways. It's obviously against the Bible, therefore, to a Christian, wrong.
Like I said, just stating it for clarification. [editline]4th December 2011[/editline]
Christians are told to spread the word to nonbelievers not kill them
Just. For. Clarification. I'm not saying it will ever happen.
it's really annoying to see how everybody here makes ignorant and uneducated assumptions about religions like for some reason, you guys think that being religious makes you a preachy, pushy dumbfuck who can't accept other people's views it's really funny, because there's a lot of the atheists doing the preaching here
Like I said, just stating it for clarification. [editline]4th December 2011[/editline] Just. For. Clarification. I'm not saying it will ever happen.
I understand that there is concern when it comes to many Christian's being convicting of nonbelievers, but please believe me when I say there are plenty of us out there who are not like this.
relating to the article here, do you guys really think you'd trust a religious person over an atheist?
It depends on the situation. Honestly, if it was the horribly stupid question given in the article, I wouldn't make an assumption because I don't know any of these people and you can't judge who is going to leave fake papers on a car just because of their religion. Really, you can't just assume who did something out of a group of people based on their religions unless it was obviously specific.
it's really annoying to see how everybody here makes ignorant and uneducated assumptions about religions relating to the article here, do you guys really think you'd trust a religious person over an atheist?
In my experience, the atheist population is just like any other religious demographic. You have your assholes. You have your cool ones. Just like you do with Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. When it comes to trust, I look at a persons character over their religion. I know some Christians I honestly wouldn't trust, period.
it's really annoying to see how everybody here makes ignorant and uneducated assumptions about religions relating to the article here, do you guys really think you'd trust a religious person over an atheist?
Well I don't like anyone who waves around their religion like a dildo bat. but I would trust them as much as anyone else I barely knew(very little)
but please believe me when I say there are plenty of us out there who are not like this.
I never said there wasn't.
Well I don't like anyone who waves around their religion like a dildo bat.
That is very hypocritical as many facepunch users are keen on flaunting their beliefs regarding theology. Edit: Misread, I thought you said "We don't like" as in facepunch users. So disregard my hypocrisy comment. You still get my point though.
Well I don't like anyone who waves around their religion like a dildo bat. but I would trust them as much as anyone else I barely knew(very little)
...and how many of those people have you actually met instead of reading about in the news
In my experience, the atheist population is just like any other religious demographic. You have your assholes. You have your cool ones. Just like you do with Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. When it comes to trust, I look at a persons character over their religion. People are too different to do it with any success.
In my experience, the atheist population is just like any other religious demographic. You have your assholes. You have your cool ones.
Well, obviously. I don't think that was ever in question. There are always assholes and good people, thats why you can never say "Christians are -" or "Atheists are -" because it refers to everyone in the whole group, and if you do that you are not being truthful. This is why the article, and the question that it showed are utter shit. You can't judge who did what based on a person's religion, and anyone that does is a bigot.
...and how many of those people have you actually met instead of reading about in the news
I went to DC for july fourth. there were two guys handing out flyers and telling me I would burn in hell if I didn't accept christ I politely told them I was already burning in the summer heat.
This is a great tool. eg: An athiest tells a religious person, "You will die if you jump off a cliff. If you try it, you will die." The religious person will think the athiest is lying so the religious person will jump off the cliff, expecting to live.
What is with the violence? Not all spiritual people are loony and despise people who choose to not abide by any particular theology.
I never said that. Someone had wrote a hypothetical idea involving evangelical christians going on a genocidal rampage against atheists. I'm just saying if someone physically (or verbally) attacks me for my beliefs I'll fight back.
I went to DC for july fourth. there were two guy handing out flyers and telling me I would burn in hell if I didn't accept christ not exaggerating here
Same thing in the southern united states. Its fairly common.
Same thing in the southern united states. Its fairly common.
seemed really fucking bizarre to me it bothers me how subversive Christianity is in the states
Same thing in the southern united states. Its fairly common.
I wore a bad religion T-shirt walking around Pensacola. Bad Idea.
I went to DC for july fourth. there were two guys handing out flyers and telling me I would burn in hell if I didn't accept christ I politely told them I was already burning in the summer heat.
so by handing out flyers, the two guys are "waving around religion like a dildo bat?" smart. would you really use the same train of thought if you saw a guy posting up signs like this?
Your point kinda fell flat on it's face. but yeah I got it.
What do you mean? [editline]4th December 2011[/editline]
I wore a bad religion T-shirt walking around Pensacola. Bad Idea.
Funny, I live in Panama City, which is far less progressive than Pensacola and only an two hours away, and I doubt the shirt would cause a ruckus.
so by handing out flyers, the two guys are "waving around religion like a dildo bat?" smart. would you really use the same train of thought if you saw a guy posting up signs like this?
The sign doesn't say "If you aren't an Atheist, you are going to be burned alive for all eternity and stabbed with sharp objects" Nice try but I can read. Not to mention, that sign is fairly passive aggressive and almost comical.
did you miss the point where they said I would burn in hell for all eternity
figured you exaggerated on that because that borders on hate speech and would do a pretty shit job at getting new members most of the time they just talk about light and salvation and shit
What do you mean?
I'm really not too fussed with religion, evangelicalism just bothers me [editline]4th December 2011[/editline]
figured you exaggerated on that because that borders on hate speech and would do a pretty shit job at getting new members most of the time they just talk about light and salvation and shit
I wasn't exaggerating at all. Though they weren't saying me specifically of course
