Religious people trust atheists as much as they trust rapists, study finds.
did you miss the point where they said I would burn in hell for all eternity
Whether you like it or not, 99% of Christians will think that. The considerate ones aren't going to wave it in your face. Not the way to get a convert, which is their intent of handing out fliers in the first place.
That guy was stupid.
figured you exaggerated on that because that borders on hate speech and would do a pretty shit job at getting new members
most of the time they just talk about light and salvation and shit
Hes not exaggerating. People sit on streetcorners with signs and mega-phones screaming about how all non-believers will be burned and sodomized in hell for all eternity if they don't become Christians. They park their cars and spend the whole day doing this.
What do you mean?

Funny, I live in Panama City, which is far less progressive than Pensacola and only an two hours away, and I doubt the shirt would cause a ruckus.
I wasn't exactly down town, around Seville square they don't give a shit. If you're in warrington though its a different story.
I'm really not too fussed with religion, evangelicalism just bothers me
You know there is a whole spectrum of Evangelicalism which encourages the legalization of same sex marriages and the protection of abortion and similar things.
I do not consider myself an Evangelical, but I have many similarities with "left wing" Evangelicals.
The way I see it, God gave man free will, who are we to take it away from other people. Theocracies are stupid ideas.

Sometimes I am almost flattered when close friends urge me to pick up Christianity. I know in their minds, they get to spend eternity in heaven with their friends and family having a good time after they die, but they think I won't be there and want me to become a Christian.
Or at least I like to think that.

i'm inclined to believe that you either live in some kind of hellhole or you're making shit up
shouting a megaphone in the streets is a good way to get fined/arrested, most urban centers have laws against that

Move to America, live down south. See if I am bullshitting you.

This is all I could find in a few seconds of youtube searching, just imagine this with lots more yelling and "Yew gonna burn in heyull if ya don't convert now!"

When do you see Atheists doing this shit?

Haha, I felt flattered as well.
The way I look at it, they must really care about you in order to take on a task as awkward as that.
Yeah, the Bible encourages people to spread the word, but how many people actually do it?

there's a reason it says CRAZY in the title

The real question is, how many do it respectfully?
The real question is, how many do it respectfully?
I'm talking about in your particular case. It is flattering when a close friend does it, because they really don't have to.

Your point being? Sitting at a streetcorner with a megaphone yelling (even if hes not saying you're going to burn in hell, thats what he is thinking inside) is still forcing their shit down our throats. If I wanted to hear the shit he is screaming at me, I would decide to go to a Church one monday morning, not get harassed by some fool on the street.

but did that happen to YOU?
the problem with searching up shit on youtube lies in the fact that it's every example of what you're looking for compiled into one neat list
i could search up "crazy mcdonalds lady jumps counter" and get a huge amount of results - that doesn't mean it's an everyday occurance

It's not like these street preachers decide to come out once a year. There are street preachers out every day. And I would like you to know, yes, it has happened to me. I have seen countless street preachers and I have been heckled at the sidewalk because they decide to target random people and shout "HAVE YOU ATONED FOR YOUR SINS TODAY?"
You on the otherhand apparently have no knowledge or personal experience and I don't appreciate you telling me what happens in my own fucking city, in my own fucking state, in my own fucking country.

honestly it just sounds like a load of bullshit
maybe it's because i don't live in the south, or maybe it's because i don't live in wherevertown, but from where i come from the closest thing to what you describe is this:
http://www.crossoflife.net/#/home
... which operates in a school on sundays and does soccer camps for small children

Then I honestly envy you because whatever you hear about religion and America is much, much worse than what you think it is. There is a Church everywhere, how many do you see a day? I can count 25 different Churches.
I don't even live in the worst part of all this shit either. I live in the a northernmost southern state and its still pretty bad. Go down to Alabama and I don't even want to imagine how worse it gets.
You seem oblivious to how things are in America.
Then I honestly envy you because whatever you hear about religion and America is much, much worse than what you think it is.
it's not like canada is some left-wing ultra-atheistic candyland either, literally 3 in 4 of the people here are christians, and some of them are very deep into it
it really sounds like you're just cherrypicking the worst examples you can find and then exaggerating the rest

Living in the South, I honestly haven't seen much of this stuff . . . that is just me though.

What State do you live in? I know a lot of the cities are largely more open too.

Florida, but I live in the Panhandle, literally 2 hours away from Alabama. Many people here are bible thumping rednecks, but I've rarely encountered the kind of stuff you have. I've seen a few abortion protests on the sides of roads.

i have relatives in california who are part of a church, the most i get from them when i say "agnostic" is a "hm" and a couple of jokes about it
i don't know what your america is, but it sounds fictional as hell

I hope you don't think California is in the South, check a map. A lot of the westernmost states aren't as bad as the southern ones.

I am not going to doubt you've encountered such things, but I am thinking you live in a particularly bad area.
Yes, people like these exist, but I think you might be blowing it a tad out of proportion. I understand why you hate it though.

I drove through the Panhandle once, stayed at a Hotel right in the area and I didn't see much stuff like that either. I guess its more in the heart of the southern states where its just ridiculous. A lot of the stuff I see is so extreme its almost comical.
Kentucky must be especially bad I guess.

it's not like jesusland is full of extremists - all you've made are pessimistic assumptions
don't base everything off of the worst you can find

And I could search up "atheist street preachers" and get tons of res- oh, wait, no, basically nothing. Only videos about atheists responding to street preachers. Or just "street preacher preaches against atheism".
Hmm.
So, there's only a few videos of atheist street preachers, and, well, tons about Christian street preachers.
Basically: however rare Christian street preachers may be, it is tremendously rarer for there to actually be an atheist preaching on the street. Unless if you count responding to street preachers as preaching in and of itself.

we were talking about the aggressiveness of christian preachers

I didn't say it was. The really, really bad area as the southern united states. I haven't made any assumptions, all I've said is what I've seen. I assure you its not bullshitting.

everyone knows the south is bad - but it's not like it's fucking deliverance or anything
if you're looking for the shitbags, you'll find them - but that doesn't mean that christians are universally shitbags.
