Most apes are polyamorous, including most hominids. I can't really name one ape species off the top of my head that's naturally and permanently monogamous.
People that are against gay marriage are faggots.
In 30 years or so we'll look back at how badly gay people are being treated and we'll be disgusted.
For fucks sake they are people too, treat them like fucking people.
Do any of these religious idiots in the GOP even remember that Abraham had 3 wives?
I immediately thought of Abraham Lincoln instead of the Hebrew Abraham... now that was an interesting mental image.
Not exactly to sound stupid, but how exactly was marriage (even straight ones) to begin with a right? Wasn't it more of a religious thing, rather than political?
Ever since the idea of monarchy and dynastic bloodlines, marriage has been first and foremost a political tool wielded by nobility and rulers to gain, exert, and steal influence. The idea of religious marriage is fairly young in comparison. Secular marriage can be looked at as simply a contract of shared assets and/or descendancy between two people. Since the US is meant to be a secular state, paying no respect, nor infringing upon any religious beliefs, secular marriage would be the ideal form of marriage. A secular marriage doesn't discriminate based on sexuality, religion, or race, because none of those are supposed to be a factor in a completely secular contract between people.
Most apes are polyamorous, including most hominids. I can't really name one ape species off the top of my head that's naturally and permanently monogamous.
This is half-true. Different apes have different levels of monogamy/polyamory for different sexes. For example, Gorilla females are completely monogamous, while the males have a whole harem, this is a contrast to Bonobo Chimps which basically use sex as a greeting. Humans seem to be naturally temporarily monogamous, and there is logical reasoning for this. A human child takes between one and two decades to mature to the point where he/she can fend for themselves as a productive member or a society. This is a relatively long time, so a man and woman staying together in a monogamous, or at least semi-monogamous relationship might be beneficial, since both parents can concentrate resources on raising a single set of offspring to a point of maturity or near-maturity.

I think it's just this fucking computer that won't let me make paragraphs. It's pissing me the fuck off.
bonobo ladies don't fuck around, though. They're territorial as shit.
bonobo ladies don't fuck around, though. They're territorial as shit.
They definitely fuck around in their communities. If by fucking around you mean having massive orgies after a new food source has been found, or having sex with other members of the community as a form of greeting.

Hell, females have sex with each other to basically incorporate new females into a new society.

I hear lots of primates will try and snatch babies away from rival mothers and eat them.

They're right,it' not a civil rights issue,it's a human rights issue.
I'm fairly certain it was to bring two people who love each other together. It quickly was adapted into religion, though.
I'm fairly certain you have a very romantic view on the past.
Not exactly to sound stupid, but how exactly was marriage (even straight ones) to begin with a right? Wasn't it more of a religious thing, rather than political?
It became a right when the government and later society recognized it and attributed it benefits.
The concept of marriage has changed so much that the idea that Christians think they are the sole proprietors of it is a joke.
Marriage is the human race's monogamous habits in legal form, homosexual monogamy has existed for ages in several species. There's no reason to prohibit it.
Humans aren't monogamous by nature.
Actually, it says Congress can't make a law that promotes one religion over another, not outright ignoring the existence of religion altogether.
My religion believes only two men or two women can be married. Men should never marry women.
The law in the US promotes Christian marriage over mine.
"I mean, marriage has to have a definition, and we just happen to believe it's between a man and woman."
And I happen to believe it's between 2 adult people who love eachother, be that man/woman, woman/woman or man/man. Why is your belief more valid than mine?

Because he is "Republican National Committee Chairman" Reince Priebus and he has a nice suit.
