I think we all knew it was pretty much over anyway.
I'll just leave this here.
Are you kidding... the guitar work from Gilmour is sublime, bar none.
Gilmour is a huge influence on me, but his/his wife's lyrics are horrible most of the time. No amount of guitar soloing could save the mess of an album that was The Division Bell.
"We bitch and we fight,
Diss each other on sight"
should have no place in a Pink Floyd record ever.

I think polly has been listening to too much grime

The song High Hopes was pretty redemptive in that album.

That might be true, but one good song out of an eleven-song cycle? That's not a very good track record (pun unintended). They should have no excuse especially since they've released albums before in their back catalogue where every song was solid.
not rly, i think syd was v much within the band spiritually, but after lodger watered them all down I think the finally settled into their own sound.
i'm talking when meddle hit the board, that's when it started.
Ummagumma live sounds like pure prog, almost nothing like anything Syd was doing. Completely different direction.

Fucking Polly Samson man
I'm sad :(
Still going to see David Gilmour in the Royal Albert hall though
Also going to see him on the 24th with my girlfriend. Can't wait.
Really wish David would tell his wife to fuck off and not take part in any of the songwriting.
I tend to defend The Division Bell a lot, as I actually like most of the songs, especially Coming Back to Life (Which Polly didn't write lol) but with The Endless River, I've got to say I wish they'd just kept it purely instrumental, because those lyrics do not do Pink Floyd nor the memory of Richard Wright justice.
I mean, come on, Louder Than Words gave us lyrical gems like:
"We bitch and we fight, diss each other on sight"
"Let's go with the flow, wherever it goes"
"...This thing that we do"
I did, however, enjoy On an Island a lot, and I think Rattle That Lock seems different, but promising, can't wait to hear more.
some of gilmour's solo stuff was pretty good

Goodbye Blue Sky :/
pink floyd broke up with syd's sanity
pink floyd broke up in 1969, anything post-1970 is just ponk flid.
To be honest; I prefer Darkside of the Moon forward over their previous albums.
pink floyd broke up with syd's sanity
Syd never went insane, he was just very depressed
Well, bugger.
I only got into them at the start of march. Can't believe I put them off for so long. They're my new favourite band. And now they've broken up. :unimpressed:

Set the controls for the heart of my feels.
I can't say I was around in pink floyd's era, but I still really appreciate their music.
I didn't really expect them to put anything out after division bell so I'm not surprised.
TER had a few bits of decent material but I kind of feel it's a shame it came out. The Division Bell's a favourite album of mine and they ended on a bang with it, and now they've died on a whimper instead.
