Not as bad as the Red Cross though. They aren't even a non-profit. [editline]1st December 2011[/editline] I'm still going to eat there, even though I don't agree with who they donate to.
By supporting them you're effectively donating to those organizations yourself.
I never use either, brb going to pick up some stuff at Target and Bestbuy... FUCK http://abcnews.go.com/Business/target-best-buy-fire-campaign-contributions-minnesota-candidate/story?id=11270194#.TtcH_mMk67s
I just donated $1.00 to them.
you bigoted fuck
If it's Illegal to deny LGBT persons aid, it may be required by the Canadian government that they record orientation specific information about the recipients? As to make sure there isn't any denials of service.
Recording everyone's sexual orientation wouldn't prove anything since they could just lie on the forms If someone was denied access based on their sexual orientation they'd be the one to file a human rights complaint, not the government
What you get is what you get unfortunatly. You'd have to pretend not to be gay if you wanted anything. It's going to take the world another hundred years to get over homosexuals. Just like blacks.
Transpeople too, and sexual orientation in general. Atheists also, many people consider them Satan worshipers still.
When i was a kid and my family had a fair bit of a rough time, we lived off of these fellas. I cant really say they are bad people. The people who work for them do a shit load of good and are underpaid. Thats if they even get paid.
Despite the Salvation Army's lobbying, they honestly have a pretty progressive stance towards homosexuality when it comes to Christians. They encourage gays and homosexuals to participate in church and religion, they just encourage celibacy, because to Christian's, laying with someone of the same sex is a sin. Now compare this to most regular churches that would chase a gay person out of church. Yes the lobbying is messed up, but the idea they're promoting is somewhat progressive, for church. I think people complaining in Chick-Fil-A's case are ridiculous. They are a business and it is their money. They can do what they want with it, including giving it to whatever organization they want.
I'm perfectly fine with this, though:
“Christians whose sexual orientation is primarily or exclusively same-sex are called upon to embrace celibacy as a way of life.”
I wouldn't eat at a fast food restaurant that donates to nazis either even if the food was good.
I'm perfectly fine with this, though:
“Christians whose sexual orientation is primarily or exclusively same-sex are called upon to embrace celibacy as a way of life.”

Why is that any better? That quote is saying, word for word, "it's okay if you're gay or bisexual as long as you don't have sex". I'd be happier with them just saying "god hates fags" because at least that wouldn't be trying to trick idiots into thinking they're saying something they aren't.
I've yet to find a charity which is shit in some way. It's disappointing.
I've yet to find a charity which is shit in some way. It's disappointing.
Red Cross
but they don't, though i wasn't aware that homosexuals were actually defined by sexual intercourse, that seems very.... shallow, really. it seems quite possible to me to dislike homosexual intercourse but have no animosity at all towards homosexuals.
You both make a good point, but at the end of the day it should be that persons choice, not the Salvation army's, or the government or anybody but the people involved.
Salvation Army? When I was on the streets, I had to go to a Salvation Army for food. Too put it bluntly, starving on the streets wasn't any different with a spoonful of oatmeal for breakfast, and a spoonful of corn with some sort of processed meat for supper. They don't actually feed you a fucking damn thing. On top of that, I walked 30 miles to get to a Salvation Army so I could sleep in a bed for once, and when I got there, there was 1 bed. I had a friend with me, and he got the bed, so I had to sleep under a bridge for the night. Fuck that god damn organization. If you're going to indoctrinate everyone that comes to you for help, at least fucking feed and bed your people!

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

In the Bible it is:
i'm going to take a wild guess that leviticus isn't the salvation army's position on homosexuality.
i'm going to take a wild guess that leviticus isn't the salvation army's position on homosexuality.
Well guess again: “Christians whose sexual orientation is primarily or exclusively same-sex are called upon to embrace celibacy as a way of life.” They make statements like that and they are a Christian organization against homosexuality, it is pretty clear what kind of homosexuality they are against.
where will i offload all my useless junk and old clothes now?
where will i offload all my useless junk and old clothes now?

Red Cross
or whatever it's called in singapore :v:
uhhh no that still doesn't indicate they want homosexuals killed, sorry
Great job misunderstanding it. The point is that they define homosexuality as same-sex sex, like the Bible. [editline]1st December 2011[/editline] not that they want them murdered
any kind of discrimination is unacceptable no matter the circumstances.
What about price discrimination.

[editline]1st December 2011[/editline] not that they want them murdered
uhh 1) you quoted "and they shall be put to death". that's a clear referrence to wishing violence upon homosexuals - evidently you've misunderstood the salvos if you're comparing them to leviticus. 2) and no they still don't define homosexuality as same-sex sex. they define homosexuality as... homosexuality, and they call upon homosexuals not to have homosexual intercourse. they're not the same thing. i don't like asparagus, and i also don't like rapists - i don't think rapists are asparagus.

It's pretty clear that they think the sin is in the sex act. As it was in the Bible. The only reason I quoted "and they shall be put to death" is because it was a part of the fucking verse. You make absolutely no sense.
congratulations you discovered the salvos think gay sex is a sin. that doesn't mean, as i originally stated, that homosexuals are defined by gay sex, nor that you cannot dislike homosexual intercourse without disliking homosexuals as people. so nothing has changed.
I see. Misunderstood your post.
e: just putting it out there you can't quote leviticus and say it's the church's position on gays, then backpedal when someone points out part of what you've quoted obviously isn't. next time - just quote the parts you think are the official position.
I didn't backpedal, I quoted the entire thing off wikipedia. The salvos didn't say anywhere that they think homosexuals deserved to die.
The salvo's here are awesome :c why are they hated everywhere else.
