Mama Mia, let him go.
Being under orders isn't an excuse.
What if you were to be shot if you didnt listen to orders?
You would do it if you wanted to live.
derp.
He escaped, by that most older people in the netherlands 65+ cant even look straight to germans (atleast where i live), its a very sensitive topic, with that Germany doesnt want to give him to the Netherlands which makes it even more sensitive..
Killing enemy combatants during war isn't murder, killing innocent civilians is.
Not if was ordered to do it...
He's 88, quit being so Nazty to him
65 Years later and this damned war is still taking lives. Just let it end already.
God I hate organizations like the Wiesenthal Nazi-Hunters. THE NUREMBERG TRIALS HAPPENED. ANYONE WHO HAD A SAY IN WHETHER OR NOT TO START AND MAINTAIN THE HOLOCAUST HAS BEEN PROSECUTED. EVERYTHING WAS RESOLVED MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY AGO.
Bleugh......the Dutch.
Noting is black and white though, especially during WW2 and under Nazi command.
Your scenario would be more closer if you refused, your principal would classify you as a teacher sympathizer and kill you for treason, possibly your family as well.
But WW2 was black and white :downs:
Being under orders isn't an excuse.
Well excuse him for being human.
What I'd like to know is why none of the Japanese war criminals are being hunted down.
There were alot.
I understand that the conditions that Japan surrendered under garanteed that their war criminals wouldn't be internationally prosecuted, but it's ridiculous that such a double standard is allowed to exist so long after WW2. If war criminals are being hunted because they're murderers and deserve to be punished, then maybe the treaty should be overlooked.
Don't forget unit 731. They were not prosecuted, because the allies needed help with all the bio weapons.
Anyone that says it's not an excuse to kill someone under orders obviously hasn't heard of the Milgram experiment.
Actually i remember that you can't convict someone in the Netherlands when he was forced and threatened to do so by someone else. What he did is still seen as an offence but the offender isn't guilty.
He had a choice. If your principal ordered you to beat up a teacher he didn't like would you? Or would you do something else that would be right?
Of course I wouldn't, the principal has almost no power over me
I don't really understand this topic of nazi war crimes, people spend years hunting these guys. Yet when it's Allied guys (Russians,Americans,British) who execute unarmed prisoners, they don't get shit. I understand people particularly hate the Germans for the Jews thing, not all germans knew about that (Including soldiers). But the fact stands that everybody committed war crimes and yet the Germans are seemingly the only ones that go punished.
Its a DUTCH Nazi FYI, I'd think that would be allied, don't you? :downs:
Why go look for people who commited warcrimes 50 years ago when there are probably many more that happened during the later wars.
I think the guilt he had to live through for more than 60 years is punishment enough.
But WW2 was black and white :downs:
I think it's more gray and white vs. black
The soviets weren't exactly saints
As much as I hate Nazi scum, why is it worth the effort to chase down a guy that killed people UNDER ORDERS that he probably regrets now anyway?
"I was only following orders"
It doesn't matter if they're sorry, what they did was wrong and they deserve punishment.
I think it's more gray and white vs. black

Allies weren't saints to, was pretty common to starve there prisoner and who did brought food for them got executed.
He had a choice. If your principal ordered you to beat up a teacher he didn't like would you? Or would you do something else that would be right?
My principal would not shoot me in the head for treason lol
Allies weren't saints to, was pretty common to starve there prisoner and who did brought food for them got executed.
light Grey with darker Grey vs. Black
Why do people say "50 years ago" when its clearly much longer than that? It's not the 1990's anymore it's 2010.
The Dutch are still vengeful towards any Nazis they see. I can understand that.
Because the Nazis pretty much made part of the Netherlands starve to death.
Why do people say "50 years ago" when its clearly much longer than that? It's not the 1990's anymore it's 2010.
I grew up during the 2000's.
It still feels like 2000, until I realize 10 years have passed since
They should have stopped that criminal scum.
Being under orders isn't an excuse.
"You! Shoot those people!"
"No, that's wrong!"
(BANG)
"You! Shoot those people!"
"J-Jawohl!"
Even if he was under orders, it doesn't fucking matter, murder is still murder, whether he had a choice or not.
"Hey, go kill those Jewish-scum or you will be labeled a traitor and you will be executed through a firing squad"
and before you say "I still wouldn't do it" stop being a goddamn white knight, you would.
