Man that trending gamer and games for change are really cringeworthy.
Most of the entire list, including judges is cringeworthy.
No Wolfenstien or Alien Isolation for GOTY? shame.
Mario Kart 8 isn't game, it's an experiment in expunging all joy from the human soul and replacing it with all-consuming hatred and rage.
No you're thinking of Mario Kart Wii
[editline]21st November 2014[/editline]
Anyway, surprised to see Five Nights at Freddy's and Binding of Isaac Rebirth both missed out on the indie category
Very surprised Link Between Worlds isn't nominated for best handheld and the entirely orchestrated MK8 wasn't nominated for best music
Like those seem like obvious choices
Link Between Worlds came out last year but I totally agree about Mario Kart 8

fucking stellar
Inquisition was JUST released and its already a contender for game of the year? I call bullshit.
Also, "developer of the year" Ubisoft Montreal. LOL GET REAL!
I agree with some of the picks, but some of those feel like space fillers more than anything.
why no wolf tno soundtrack for best soundtrack, that and the mgr soundtrack are the only game soundtracks i have ever put on my phone because theyre good as hell
2014 was such a boring empty year for gaming, GTA 5 HD is the most exciting AAA to release the entire year
I hope 2015 isn't this goddamn dull, I bought like 3 games the entire year

Meh, I won't say its been a total waste. Well, maybe it has if you are anybody but Nintendo. Nintendo has had some nice first and third party titles (for 3DS in this case) pop up on their platforms this year.
Bravely Default came out this year didn't it? So did Mario Kart 8 and Smash 4. Yeah, this year has been a let down, but it hasn't been a total loss.
I hold out no hope for this. There's even a 'Best Remaster' category.
BAFTA's so much better than this.

A vote for Jeff is a vote for video games.
Surprised to see Divinity Original Sin on there. Not because it doesn't deserve an award, but because it is a very good game that is overshadowed by hyped up crap like Dragon Age. Hope it wins, it is one of the best games I have played in a long time.
As someone that mostly plays strategy games the list is a joke to me
Outside of that, the latest COD as best shooter nominee? AC Unity/Ubisoft anywhere on the list? Its like Geoff Keighley just took the biggest names and slapped them together.
honestly, minecraft song parodies are the most cringeworthy shit ever
Even worse it's Tobuscus, I didn't even think he still had a fanbase
Just a reminder that if you think anyone but Pewdiepie will win get ready for disappointment.
Bayo 2 for GOTY plz
im not understanding why people are saying wolfenstein is a goty contender
like it was a pretty great game but its not the kind of game that wins goty and there was plenty of bad stuff
like their attempt at having a story that exists or something
You shouldn't take Wolfenstein: TNO very seriously, it's a game that does that on purpose. It is truly GOTY
It's a shame that Jeff won't win
Dat youtube fame
Didn't three of the games in "Best Remaster" have their originals release last year? Seems pretty stupid.
And then Metro redux still didn't even get a nomination, so weak
It's FTP and fun, why complain? People play MOBAs for the same reason but complain about them all the time. At least Hearthstone isn't plagued by a toxic community.
Mobas dont have characters that are extremely broken if you pay extra.
TotalBiscuit HAS to win the Trending Gamers category like come on
But we all know thats not gonna happen because PewDiePie has 32 million idiots that follow him
Depends, do you want the biggest game entertainer to win, or someone who can be a good gaming figurehead? My vote goes for TotalBiscuit on his views alone, but if we were to vote for one who could entertain us...
Hate to say it, but [sp]PewDiePie is starting to grow on me a little. His fans can go to hell, but he himself is a genuinely nice person. For one off-topic thing, he's right about the Youtube comments are utter shit with troll/hate comments always getting top comments.[/sp]
I have little knowedge on Jeff Gertsmann, so I'm gonna look the guy up a bit before the awards.
Dark souls II for definite GOTY for me. Can't decide on Bayonetta 2 for lack of a WiiU. :(
I'm pleasantly surprised to see Bayonetta 2 on the GOTY nominees. It obviously won't win, but at least it's being acknowledged in some way.
The list basically consists of all the big names that you expect, regardless of whether or not they actually deserve to be on there.
It's gonna end up being the same as every other game award show probably
Shouldn't people wait for the year to end before choosing a game of the year?
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
These aren't remasters, they're remakes..
Why the fucking fuck is Metro not on the best remaster list.
GAME FOR CHANGE:
The Last of Us: Left Behind (Naughty Dog/SCEA)
Isn't this the one with the underage lesbian make-out scene? What are they trying to change, the age of consent?
Isn't this the one with the underage lesbian make-out scene? What are they trying to change, the age of consent?
I'm more interested in seeing why Left Behind was included as a "Game for Change" if the only criteria it fits is some flimsy "this character is actually a lesbian."
Like if that's the reason, why didn't they jam Gone Home into one of the choices?
Whatever, with luck Valiant Hearts or This War of Mine will win the category.

Left Behind (and TLOU in general) are some of the best examples of diversity in gaming imo.
In TLOU, you had Ellie, a 14 year old girl, who was shown to be more than capable of defending herself against full grown men and zombies without Joels help, as well as saving Joels ass plenty of times during gameplay and cutscenes.
Joels daughter's room isn't full of stereotypical girly things.
Tess fights against zombies and humans in gameplay and cutscenes without turning into a damsel in distress.
One of the male characters you meet is revealed as gay in a natural way, and neither Ellie nor Joel think anything of it despite clearly knowing he's gay. He doesn't have a lisp, run with his palms facing up, and wear booty shorts, he's shown as a realistic and strong gay adult.
The leader of a nationwide militia (fireflies) was a black woman, yet never acts like a cliche black woman.
And of course Left Behind had Ellie be lesbian (or bi) and her best friend and love interest was black and she too nevers turns into a cliche black girl.
