It's not teenagers, it's dumb young pre-teen girls.

Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up
Shut the fuck up, every single one of you "think of the children" types needs to shut up
SHUT UP
Wait, last 3 books I read for non academic purposes were Catch-22, Slaughterhouse 5, and that Vietnam war book whose name escapes me.
So, I guess I'm going to Pianosa.
And changing my name to Major Major Major.
"The Things They Carried"?
Shit I'm reading an Anne Rice book at the moment

They should be glad they're reading anything at all. So many young people don't read at all unless it's required and even then, most use sparknotes.
The anti-intellectualism and fear mongering at Fox is ridiculous.
the only cure: make said terminally afflicted teens see Daybreakers, the literal anti-twilight
It's important that children read things where there's no hope. It's the truth. The sooner you end your blissful ignorance the better. That's not to say it's not fun to live, but it's all pointless ultimately. Apparently we need to censor the truth.
im a necromancer

Heaven forbid they even try and read "1984". I guess that will scar them for life.
girlfriend read twilight, Moved in for a kiss on prom night, Bitch bit my neck. I still have scars.

Don't forget "Brave New World", "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" and "Fahrenheit 451".
These novels would, theoretically, drive a teenager to suicide, right?
Twilight- new form of social Darwinism.
(;
I love stories without hope, they're so much more dramatic.
Move to Australia, they already have.
that is very racist

This man tells the truth.

It's not racist.
Censorship in Australia is ridiculous.
I live here, so.
Yeah.
Does that mean modernism is dying?
Does that mean modernism is dying?
Modernism is dead.
We're in postmodernism now.

Of course they would, I read those when I was 15, and now I'm dead.
I doubt you can get most teens these days to read those books anyways.

Is it possible for modernism to end? Wouldn't it just be a different period of "modern"?

Well, that's kind of up for debate.
Postmodernism is just an extension of modernist ideals, so I suppose that modernism never really ended, just changed.
But according to my Literary Theory handbook, modernism 'ended' in the 70s.
Also, 'those teens' are ridiculous. George Orwell and Aldous Huxley are two of my favourite authors.
We can't really group books like 1984 into the same category as something as inane as Twilight, they are books that hold actual meaning, depicting consequences of important social issues through the novels, they meant to have an impact on the reader and ultimately imbue a desire to fight or prevent what the book is speaking out about.
Twilight is just cheesy entertainment with no important message behind it, it' s supposed to be entertainment, but the readers take it too far.
Ban Fox news.

Only if you don't counter with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
But seriously I can see what they're saying, even if it is Fox. After being forced to read 5 books in a row about rape and incest...I got extremely depressed. Because those motherfuckers wouldn't let me read something happy.
Also, Fahrenheit 451 has a hopeful ending.
I love how they put serious cognitive research and a totally unrelated diatribe on Bella as a role model right underneath each other, when each part made no reference to each other.
Idiot articles writers.
That said, my amoral sympathies was probably brought on my reading too much books with depraved male sexual deviants.
No one can say Fox is being conservative on this one. Though they will certainly try.
no one is or has
faff off
Well that sucks.
I red 1984, can I become an evil leader now?
After watching pokemon, I decided to become Garry Oak. You cannot deny my girth.
Okey so after I've been reading Harry Potter, Inheritance Cycle, The Wheel of Time during my 8-14 years I should be braindamaged?
No, you should be a wizard.
