Fallout 4 coming November 10th, 2015 : Jetpack-equipped power armor - Mandatory

The skills I'm not too worried about, even though I'd prefer them if I had the choice.
It's the voiced protagonist and 4-limit responses which irks me. Not just because of roleplay, which I can generally work with, but the fact that there'll simply be less speech options than ever before. Voice acting is expensive. And how are modders going to be able to make their own quests with their own dialogue? Just have the guy stand there silently? There'll be this jarring contrast.
I realised we weren't going to get Morrowind-level speech options, but after New Vegas (and then Skyrim), I was hoping we'd get something a little more expansive.

They could easily pull a mass effect type thing and if there are more than 4 options one of them gets turned into a button for more options.
I'd hope for unvoiced lines we could have a sort of tts system enabled to allow for at least a synthetic voice. Some of those are pretty decent, nowhere near a human voice through a bad mic, but still understandable.

Limited number of responses isn't an issue, as you can just branch out from general to specific responses. The voice acting part is exactly the same as before, I've played countless modded questlines with totally silent characters, they can surely add in lines for the PC just as other characters can be given voices.
The settlement system seems like a game in itself that could totally and acceptably be released today on its own for $30. It seems like they've packed absolutely so much stuff into this game.
I think the best thing is that Power Armor is POWER ARMOR again. Not just a suit of armor. A walking tank. I'm wondering if you'll have time limitations on the use where you actually have to feed it Microfusion cells, and if you can have it deployed via a Vertibird drop.

It seems to drain your ap when you do things with it, but that seems to regenerate at a reasonable rate.
Also there is a meter next to the ap gauge with what looks to be a overheat meter marked "Core", I think it refers to core temp.
Both of those are from the blood and guts trailer.

i'm just happy they finally answered what the valve on the back is for, its to open the damn thing.
i always thought the suits were 2 pieces, with power-pants, now however, its all changed

Power Armor in Fallout 1 and 2 was fierce. If FO3 had FO2 style power armor, the Enclave would've bulldozed everybody else. You would've been actively avoiding the Enclave instead of picking fights with them for loot. Because until you had serious firepower, there's not a god damned thing you could've done.
My birthday! Is going to be a good one :3
why are none of you talking about the fucking town building and trading bit that blew my mind.
Nice to see the power armour is more tanky, but i'm guessing it's now something we can't feasibly wear all the time. Presumably stealth is also impossible in it, but that'd make sense tbh.
Never played a Fallout game but the weapon customisation and house building make this look interesting enough to me.
Never played a Fallout game
Uhh, I'm afraid you have better things to be doing than posting here. Go forth and absorb the greatness.
Here's hoping the game's finished and not bug-ridden by the time of release like you've come to expect of big publisher AAA titles these days.
If Fallout 3 is anything to go by than the game is going to be buggy as hell also the preview videos above look awfully choppy which is normal for the engine. I wish they would just drop the game bryo engine and find a better engine to run the games on.

If you haven't played the first to games than you missed out on some of the best classic games of the late nineties.

Even in the original games you could tell that the Valve was for opening the suit.
Looks like they took a lot of pages from FO3 Wanderers Edition and Project Nevada. As well as Real Time Settler.
Hopefully the story will be decent too compared to Fallout 3's subpar story.
I'm more concerned about having a voiced protagonist, it cuts the RP out of RPG significantly. I like to roleplay characters and imagine their personalities, such as a patriotic NCR nationalist or a retard who solves things by hitting them with his retard strength. Giving the protagonist a prescribed personality removes that element, Bethesda's writing falls flat nowadays and I don't want them to screw up our characters.
The characters in the old Fallout games talked as well you just didn't hear them talk. It showed them talking as text. The Chosen one in Fallout 2 actually talks right out loud in a couple of scenes in Fallout 2 as well.
I'm sorry, but if they removed skills then they basically cut the RPG out of the RPG.
No way I'm going to buy it if that is the case.
I partially agree with your statement Black isle studious even put a post nuclear role playing game on the cover for the original fallout games.

tbh that thing looks dumb as hell with it's size
it's way, way too glossy too but a scuff pad can fix that

Probably so it can comfortably fit a smartphone or phablet inside.

Or fat rolls
I personally thought that a lot of the graphics in Fallout 3 felt ugly as shit, and the way that the player could move about and interact with the environment felt clunky. I hope that they've chosen new animators and texture/model designers specifically for NPCs (More specifically their horrible, disgusting faces)

Faces in FO4 look better than in any Bethesda game I've seen, but it's undermined by bad lip synch and lack of emotive expression.
Which is par for the course, I suppose

Power Armor is supposed to be unbalanced. The dirty peasants are supposed to become specs of dust, things of unimportance because their weapons bounce off of you, while the tougher enemies with power armor and energy weapons will still tear you to shreds.
[editline]16th June 2015[/editline]
I imagine about the fallout 4 for the lower body it goes hip armor, then leg armor, and finally shoe/foot armor. If it's a solid suit then bottom first as the top is to heavy unsupported.
For the upper body I assume it goes torso piece, then arms, then hands, and finally shoulder armor. This can't be a solid piece in my option. The torso/arms and shoulders can't be solidly connected in my option.
The helmet of course, goes on last no matter what.
At least those are the only scenarios.

It's a different Pip-Boy. This one isn't attached by a glove, and it's about the same size (diameter-wise) as the others but more compact in terms of length. If you look at the PC in the gameplay videos, it appears to be fairly loose but from looking at the Pip-Boy physical model there's a kind of sleeve which you put your hand into, which is elasticated.

Plus, people complaining about the colour of the HUD (I'm a bit confused as to its simplification as well but in my eyes it's just different, not that dumbed-down); you're able to choose which shoulder pad you have on your power armour. I imagine there's going to be at least 2 other choices of HUD colour, plus mods will give you RGB within days.
I've always wanted to play Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, but I just can't get past the combat. I always have tons of fun exploring and adventuring and doing quests, but whenever I do combat I just shut down. Basically any game determined entirely by dice rolls isn't enjoyable to me. Andy tips or mods to get around that?

Not that I know of. You can mod it so combat is a lot faster (like 10x faster), or pick skills centered around avoiding combat, but that's all.
I always disliked that Pip-Boy design due to how unwieldy it is. I generally always installed the Pip-Boy 2500 mod so I could have full armor.

Maybe this guy will fix the faces if they don't look good in Fallout 4 like this mod.

it was just an unfortunate thing in fallout 3/NV that the glove was a seperate piece of armor that over-rode the left hand, i always just removed it using inventory editing as soon as i started the game, it didn't change how the pip-boy worked
I use the 2500A mod, which is that but slaps it on your wrist
I think the UI would look a lot better if it was a darker color, the bright green makes it an eyesore, it stands out way too much.
There's a good chance they made it that way so it was easier to see for demonstration purposes. Also, it's probably customizable.
Any new Gameplay come out yet?
