Why It's Hard To Talk About Attraction In Race And Culture - Polidicks

I'm White European, gay, and have never found a black guy attractive. I can see a black guy who is blatantly fit or healthy, or whatever, but just feel no kind of sexual attraction there. I have never found Hispanic people attractive either. I find Asians attractive sometimes, but it is not that often. 99% of guys I look at and find attractive are white. I think everyone I look at and think "wow" because they are so astonishingly good looking are white, blue eyes and blonde hair. Think Ulrik Munther. I don't know. Being an Indian guy I've yet to find an Indian woman who catches my interest. The ones I've met so far just seem incredibly dull. I suppose I prefer white women (And they seem to like me) because they're more free-spirited, less concerned with societal norms or dependent on their parents than many women of my own ethnic background. Then again, if you find someone who's grown up in Canada and is more or less Canadian in their cultural identity, there's really not much difference between them.

As a European guy I find myself more attracted to northern middle eastern women (Turkish, Iranian, etc), as well as Indians I don't know what it is, but good looking middle eastern/western Asian women are automatically more attractive to me than their attractive European, african and eastern Asian counterparts. Though it's all good, each ethnic groups/skin color or what have you have their unique winning qualities that can all be appreciated in their own right. Nobody in their right mind would shut down an attractive woman/man because they aren't your favorite HSV value.

It was more of a jab at myself as if to say that I'm slightly misanthropic, almost like I don't care what skin colour someone is because I hate people anyway. Jokes aside, no idea how you could go off on such a large tangent. I'm English-Lebanese and I have had friends from every corner of the planet. I've known people from over a 100 different nationalities and yes, I do look past colour. I look past it in the sense that I do not find colour to be a deciding factor in who a person is - it's who they are that matters. I have never said to myself or anyone "I can't date her because she is of x race". I simply do not work like that. I understand that I got many disagrees because people don't feel the same way I do but that's okay. Being attracted to someone of your own race is perfectly natural and it's nothing bad. Internal race preference really can be found all over the place, not just in romantic attraction stuff If you are white you'll probably say "this black guy" instead of "this guy" in conversation, if you are black you'll probably say "this white guy" instead of "this guy" in conversation, because that's the person's most identifying quality that makes them different from you. The person you're talking to will unconsciously interpret the race of the person as their own in their mental image unless you clarify otherwise. That's not racist or armchair psychology or anything like that, the brain is biased toward similar things and you're not entirely in control of it anyway. Attraction should logically function same way; you are inclined to like people that are similar to you but obviously you can have your own preference despite that bias. It's not something you can force very easily just out of principle.
