This just shows how blindly people follow Jobs not realizing what he has done and what he hasn't done, and same goes for a lot of people.
Kojima? Gabe? Carmack? Miyamoto? They all lost to a turtleneck wearing tart?
God damn.
I'd vote for creator of mario.
is this really that big of a life and death issue? i mean how do you even quantize influence?
just sounds like something stupid made up to generate publicity.
26% is not a majority. It's a winning number but it'd have to be >50% to be a majority.
The words Plurality. I thought the same thing.
school and music you dunce, what the fuck else would you use it for? It's not made for video games
woo go macs, I've got steam and play some of my games on mine tbf and it runs really well, photoshop also runs way faster than on windows, it's a shame that I can't get things like 3ds max on it or else I'd use it moreso, still a great computer, I'd never go back to an ordinary PC
Also considering the convention I'd say that he's been voted as most influential for making the iTouch/iPhone/iPad which with the app store has had a big impact on the games industry and has pushed more towards the indie side of game development..
Why not just use a PC?
It's cheaper and does the exact same fucking things.
And don't give me that "It runs video program/photoshop/etc faster" bullshit because it's a minimal increase in speed at best and really only noticeable if you're doing heavy duty shit like making high detail CGI videos at theater screen sizes.
Why would anyone not give you the very valid reason of 'it runs video program/photoshop/etc faster', it really does, photoshop is slow as fuck on windows, but on mac it's so much faster, it's not bullshit it's actually true..

It runs marginally faster on a Mac than a Windows PC with decent specs. Still not really a justification for buying one unless you are a graphic designer or use photshop ALOT. I bet most of the people that use the argument dont even have PS installed or have only launched it once in the previous month.
I have Photoshop CS5 on this computer, it takes about 10 seconds from launching to being completely ready to use, and other than that I dont see how it can run any faster, everything works fine.

I've got a windows partition on mine and have photoshop on both, considering I use it a lot it really does make a world of difference..
I don't see why everyone hates mac products that much they're still good computers regardless of what you use them for, the main reason seems to be that they cost more money and if that's the reason then it's not a problem with macs but just a general angst against more affluent people
omg who cares nerds
I despise people like you with a passion.
Gabe Newell, Shigaru Miyamoto, Will Wright, Satoshi Tajiri are the most influential men in Video Game History.
Gabe Newell - Steam, Half-Life, and he's awesome.
Shigaru Miyamoto - Created Mario and Zelda
Will Wright - His simulations, like SimLife, are some of the best games, his game concepts are also great
Satoshi Tajiri - Invented Pokémon. Without Pokémon the GameBoy wouldn't have sold that much and that anime was fucking sad at points (admit it, you all shed tears when butterfree left to get laid)
I can actually see where this comes from - the birth of ipod/iphone/ipad has allowed people to take games with them anywhere.
Did they question a bunch of people who have no idea what "video games" are for this?

Except you could do that with mobile phones that came out years before any of those were even made up.

You never had a childhood.
Or you would know of the almighty GameBoy.
The unquestioned steve jobs love from the public is pissing me off.
Lmao Macs hardly even supported many games just 5 years ago.
Newell, Miyamoto, Kojima and Carmack should be in the top 5.

Handheld game consoles came out years before the iPod was even conceived.

Yes, but the way the App Store and touchscreen has changed the way they're used.
Stuff like Angry Birds and Tiny Wings can show us that.
Sure it was possible, but it involved taking disks, awkward controllers...

I simply dislike them for the fact that you get mediocre hardware for an extremely bad price. $2,000 for an Apple desktop PC is just ass when you can build a regular PC for $900 which is even more powerful.
So even if OSX is more optimized for things like Photoshop, I don't really find that worth over twice the price. Especially not when the things I do with my PC consists of browsing the web, programming, and occasionally gaming. Why would I buy a mediocre 2,000 dollar machine that can't even do the third task?
And then we have this.
"Then it's not a problem with macs but just a general angst against more affluent people"
Haha, what? So just because I don't buy the most expensive thing just because it's expensive, it means I'm jealous of people richer than me? Yeah, ok. I'm going to offer someone a rock for 5,000 dollars. If someone buys it, and you find them retarded for wasting their money on it, it just means you're angsty because they have more money than you.

1995 - Pokemon Red and Blue were released for the Gameboy, a handheld game system
That was 16 years ago. Apple didn't do shit for the handheld gaming market except for expand it more.
So what exactly did he do other than the fact that he is Steve Jobs?
he made shiny things
therefore, he is pretty much a god.
He made the iPod touch and iPhone that has apps on it
omfg dis man is the most bideo gaming man ever cus i can p-lay angry birds!
Handheld game consoles came out years before the iPod was even conceived.
But you could never download them where ever you were, or browse through millions of them through the device itself, that's pretty revolutionary is it not?
And we all know how influential angry birds has been to video games, right?
Apple did not come up with the idea of an app store, we have had them since the 90's.
They used to have kiosks in Japan where you downloaded games onto SNES/Gameboy cartridges.
Jobs has like nothing to do with videogames. Sure iphone had many games but Jobs had nothing to do with that. Not to mention iphone did not influence gaming at all.
There's a difference between popular and influential.
And we all know how influential angry birds has been to video games, right?
It has 500 million downloads, it's an example of how popular downloading games onto a mobile device has become, the most sold non-app or downloadable game is wii-sports at 75 million..

How did jobs have nothing to do with the iPhone..? The iPhone made it possible to download games on the go, that's pretty huge.. and surely there's a big link between popularity and influence, if something wasn't popular it would have no influence at all
