Very few people in North Korea are innocent as you'd like to think. I'm sure the bulk of their population would sooner die then be 'liberated' by another foreign power purely because they don't know any better. When you're educated from birth that the glorious Kim ll-sung and Kim Yong-il are the basically mortal gods in their own respects and are constantly reinforced with the idea that everyone in the world is out to get them, along with the fact that all external information on North Korea or even the world is restricted to only top party members it seems unlikely that anyone would simply decide to give up fighting for the great leader. All citizens have formal military training, women and children included. Also, if they reinforce rule of 'no surrender' like the Soviets did then we'd be hard pressed to fight them much less free 'civilians'
Not to say there won't be defectors, there are even now refugees from North Korea flee to the South, not all make it and it's unknown how many try but it's something atleast.

To further reinforce my point, look at what this thread is about.
Why are people actually trying to sympathize with North Korea? It's possibly the worst place to live in the world besides some generic African nation with a food shortage. The people think their leader is a god. They are treated like shit and aren't allowed to own cars. They have to use oxen. If you don't keep your mandatory household picture of sexy Kim clean and shiny, they send you to a labor camp forever.
Kim and all his cohorts need to be shot and his people liberated.
I thought the "human torpedoes" were gonna be people diving from helicopters with metal helmets on.
Imagine that. Badass.

Though they are treated like shit, I will say the air is somewhat cleaner, without the millions of cars most countries have. However, I agree that his people are treated like shit, and some people, mostly out of fear, believe Kim is an actual god. However, such things as no cars isn't exactly terrible, but it does seem odd they built large-scale cities with roads when they didn't even allow cars.
Learn your history, especially about the British Asian Theatre.
Really, Gmod_Fan77, you're telling someone else to read their history?
I'd suggest opening a remedial textbook before you start to throw that around.
Human torpedoes from North Korea?
South Korea should counter with human centipedes.
Hell yeah! Lets take back the south!

Indeed. People seem to underestimate what NK can do, regardless of their military incompetence and Kim's Napoleon Complex. Last time I read up on it, NK had a fairly modern military. Not only do the civilians receive training, but NK also an army of over a million professionally-trained regular soldiers also.

Haha you're so full of shit. Lets see some sources there skooter
So they can launch a missile and fly it to wherever they want, but they can't make a simple guidance system for a torpedo? Give me a break.
They spent about a quarter of their GDP on the military and have one of the largest armies in the world, that doesn't mean they are in any way technologically advanced, it's hard to tell if they even have microprocessors. A modern army without the tech to help isn't much good.
Really though, it's not a good idea to invade. They have such a large army that there would be far too many casualties to be a war of choice. If it was hard to hold Iraq where everyone hates the west, North Korea is going to be a nightmare.
Action probably should be taken to stop them from being oppressed, but it's better to wait for diplomatic methods. Right now they will not even talk with any other countries but after their people starve and lose faith in Kim, maybe things will change.

Guiding systems use high powered sonar pings to detect and follow their targets every move, while a trailing submarine uses low power sonar to remain hidden.
That's why, among other reasons, it's very detectable when an enemy torpedo is inbound on your submarine; it has a distinct high pitched resonance that allowed it to be detected from far away.
A man guided "torpedo" would not need this, and could navigate to within several meters of the target before firing or detonating.

I don't even want to consider the US moving into NK. That's way out of the question. If something's gonna happen though, we'd better be damn sure the North did it first.

Isolationist states have a habit of decaying. NK is gonna go downhill quickly once they run out of food and they are gonna either do something stupid, open up to serious negotiations or completely colapse.
If they do something stupid , the entire world will turn on them, even China will join in. Surgical strikes against an already starving army will not be a fair fight, they will fall apart and the entire government will fall leaving the people devastated. If they stay isolated, large scale deaths from starvation will take place and everything will fall apart.
If they open up, it's up to negotiators on how they will go. It's possible to bring them to a stable third-world country or they might stay the way they are and just take charity food. Either way, it's a much better solution.
oh my god FREAKING BADASS
In North Korea, torpedo pilots YOU!!!
Who cares if it is low-tech or "primitive" usually when you fight it is about using what you have. They did that very well, i don't support them. We all know how bad the country is, so they didn't show anything. They're just being cocks. Every country was low-tech as some point when it came to war, who gives a shit if it works? What they did was no different then Japan's kamikaze dive bombers and banzai attacks.
Or the Americans using trained bats with mini firecrackers carrying Napalm.
Or the Germans using RC IED's
Or South America fighting over Bird Poo.
