i really can't stand most shakespeare but I can see how much he influenced culture and people in general; same difference
he's not a STEM major or a military leader, he just wrote painfully giggly romantic arse-water
gosh don't you understand how unimportant literature is
Charles Darwins scientific theory is arguably more important to humanity and Britain than her romantic novel. They should of replaced John Houblon, no one gives a shit about the first governor of the Bank of England.
They should of put Boudicca on it.
I want Piers Morgan to be on the next note redesign
The whole point of that post was to show how little I know about Austen, and to invite you to educate me.
I specifically said "but as far as I know".
"I was only pretending! Haha!"
Tell me why I'm wrong, that I might cease to be quite so uninformed.
Read, next time.
I'd rather have Darwin on the notes. I didn't even know who Jane Austen was until now.

There's a difference between being uneducated and being an insulting tard about it.
You somehow managed to do both.
I would of preferred it to be Alan Turing.

I agree, however Houblon has already been replaced by James Watt
I'd rather have Darwin on the notes. I didn't even know who Jane Austen was until now.
all the more reason to put her on the note then
I'd rather have Darwin on the notes. I didn't even know who Jane Austen was until now.
how do you people pass high school english
charles darwin wrote books that changed naturalism
jane austen wrote books that changed literature
i literally do not see the problem here
The impact of science and progress is more important than the impact of fiction literature

I overdid it on purpose, so that you would tell me what she actually did that I'm wrong about.
All you've done thus far is misinterpret my post.
I'd rather have Darwin on the notes. I didn't even know who Jane Austen was until now.
Jesus, what do they teach you guys in English classes?

If they like writers, they should put Maddox on a note.

Who wouldn't like to see this lovely grin on a note? He is not brithish but c#Mon just imagine such a note.
why don't they just print blank notes and subsidize crayons, then everyone who cries about X person not being on some cash can just draw whatever the fuck they want on it
The impact of science and progress is more important than the impact of fiction literature
says who? who are you to say that science is more important than culture? surely they exist in symbiosis as part of a larger society rather than one being 'more important because i can't see the benefits of the other'
Should be Boris Johnson
To be honest, I know shite all about Jane Austen but I don't see a problem here. Regardless of whoever is more important or not, there's nothing wrong with wanting to honour lots of important people from our past.
I'd rather have Darwin on the notes. I didn't even know who Jane Austen was until now.
are you like 7?
like, I don't understand how you can live in britain for an extended period of time and not find out who jane austen is, even accidentally
The impact of progress
Creativity isn't part of progress. Robots are more important than humans. It's logical yes...
I overdid it on purpose, so that you would tell me what she actually did that I'm wrong about.

Jane Austen is a very important literary figure, and the fact that you know next to nothing about her is a standing testament to your ignorance on the subject. Unfortunately, I'm not the failure of a high school teacher who never even taught you about Jane Austen, so I'm not going to spend hours dredging up various articles citing her influence because I don't have any adderall on hand.
If you want to know her influence, read her wikipedia page. Don't try to force other people to teach you. You're not being taken seriously because you're sitting in front of a giant library that is the internet and asking random passerbys to explain the intricacies of Jane Austen's impact on literature. Just look it up yourself.

A lot of people don't know why Austen is an important author. Shit, a lot of people don't know why any author is an important author.
That's the problem for a lot of people.
I would of preferred it to be Alan Turing.
this is a good idea tho not gonna lie
are you like 7?

I learned who Jane Austen was.....3 months or so after I moved there?
says who? who are you to say that science is more important than culture? surely they exist in symbiosis as part of a larger society rather than one being 'more important because i can't see the benefits of the other'
because there's a great chance that without science you'd have died from an infection you had as a baby
I want Piers Morgan to be on the next note redesign
Nah, Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley :v:
The people on the other side of the note have a 10-15 year life cycle before being replaced.
Darwin has been there nearly 15 now, so it's about time for a change. Calm your shit Internet!
Plus, it's only money - you didn't care about Darwin being on the note until you found out he was being replaced by Austen. Why do you even care?
because there's a great chance that without science you'd have died from an infection you had as a baby
And without literature, intellectually we'd probably still be stuck in the stone age, your point?
