Xbox One was the top selling console in the US last month
Bullshit. I bought it because it's a multitasking console that has the launch titles that look the best to me, and I'm almost certain that the majority felt the same way. Nobody's going to buy the more expensive console if they think it's worse.
I know like 5 people off the top of my head who are getting the Xbox simply because its an Xbox
By now my computer's able to emulate the PS2 so well that I just dug out all my old PS2 discs and turned them into ISOs for an emulator. I wonder if anyone's working on emulators for the 360/PS3 to the same extent right now
I can't run MGS2, so I'll wait until my PC can do that before doing that.
So what you're saying is they've spread themselves too thin?
Pretty much. Most people are assuming that their stock capability is roughly the same, maybe even slighly better for MS. But Sony just needs to stock far more places, over a much larger area than MS.

Nope, they are ludicrously hard to emulate. As far as I remember there is no general emulator for the XBox, only specific ones for certain titles like Halo. So a 360 emulator just isn't happening. The PS3 is a different story entirely thanks to the Cell and it's many strange features. Not counting that both consoles are actually relatively powerful, which requires an extreme amount of computation to emulate smoothly.
Which is also why the new consoles don't have backwards compatibility, unless you want them to tape the old hardware into the console and increase the price that is :v:

They'd be hard as shit to run smoothly even if we had a well-documented emulator that was identical to one of them, but considering emulators have to "spoof" and compensate for a lot of missing documentation in the hardware, it's even harder to run.
Not to mention the Cell was a bitch to develop for, let alone try to reverse engineer.

I know about 7 people who are buying a PS3 just because it's a PlayStation and because it's made by Sony.
What's your point?
