they were in international waters. but guess what?? making your intentions clear that you are going to breach a blockade and dock at gaza gets you intercepted regardless of location
-snip-
I'm retarded, never mind.
yeah the point is you don't have a suit of kevlar armor covering every inch of your body and there are plenty of exposed potentially lethal targets to chop at with a knife or axe on someone wearing kevlar
In a blind fury people will not go for those critical zones, they will stab, and maybe pierce the kevlar, or slash and achieve a massive amount of fuck all.
ANYWAY ITS A MOOT POINT
Until they did it nothing was justified. It was probably just a threat.
No. It was their intention to breach the blockade, and they made no attempts to be private about it.
In a blind fury people will not go for those critical zones, they will stab, and maybe pierce the kevlar, or slash and achieve a massive amount of fuck all.
Kevlar is not a suit of impenetrable armor. A stab will penetrate it, and it does nothing to alleviate the strength of a blow.
You guys clearly don't understand. It's not the weapons that were suspected to have been given to the Hamas, it's the items used against the commandos boarding the ship. You can clearly see in this video:

That the commandos were lynched by a big mob, they had to use lethal weapons to protect themselves, or they would have died.
That's stupid. Obviously they are gonna fight back if someone raids their boat at night.
Than again they did use way more force than necessary, beating someone with a pole? That's terrible.

They were peacefull and Israel could have just checked the suplies on the Gazza port. Gazza needs suplies people are dying there.

I fully support breaching the Gaza blockade and assisting the people. It's just ridiculous to say that the freedom flotilla had no intention of doing so.

Ow sorry then I got you wrong.

You obviously don't know the rules of engagement. You never engage a target unless they clearly possess a weapon or have intention to kill. On the other hand, for the activists, common sense would have to dictate. If armed soldiers are descending onto your ship, don't resist, or they will fire under the rules of engagement.
This obviously would not have been nearly as controversial (read: no deaths) if the activists hadn't engaged.

The activists claim the commando's shot prior to boarding.
The activists claim the commando's shot prior to boarding.
We'll just have to wait to find out.
[editline]04:15PM[/editline]
To be honest, I really hope Israel did shoot first. The way they treat people in the gaza strip is despicable, and the Israelis should have just stayed a stateless nation. Nobody should have the right to evict people from their own land for religious reasons or otherwise.
Holy balls, look at all the metal pipes found on the top deck. And something irks me about those electrical saws. Not many reasons so many would be on a ship...
Construction material? It is a humanitarian mission ya know.

Well shit, no offense, but if some people mob me and try to throw me overboard, I'm shooting the fucks.
Of course however, Israel shouldn't have been there in the first place.
Of course however, Israel shouldn't have been there in the first place.
you're right they should have just sunk the ship from afar
you're right they should have just sunk the ship from afar
Should have nuked the site from orbit.
I mean it's the only way to be sure with terrorists.
Pathetic, really.
They've got $10000 in camera equipment sitting on the ground. They can afford flares.
Who said the ship crew bought that equipment? They could have easily brought cameramen and journalists on board. As far as I remember, one of detainees was a Brazilian filmmaker.
You can see flash devices and other various items being thrown to simply fuck with the nightvision of the helicopter. The flares may have been used, and simply not in the few videos released. But the hammer statement really is true about those poles on the ship.
Or...They could have not known the helicopter was using nightvision and would have simply use the flares to call the attention of people nearby, since you know, that's what a flare is for and they were under attack. I don't know, just throwing a wild guess there, but it seems a lot more logical than attempting to use flares to fuck up night vision..
uh yes they had plenty of weapons that could have lethally harmed the soldiers, from poles to axeheads to knives, along with a mob of people to use them sorry have you read anything thusfar?? that is sort of an established fact
Goes with the hammer incident. These "weapons" are also tools. A gun is a tool used only for killing, a knife can be used for slicing and cutting things that may be alive or not, a pole may be used for whacking but may also be used for repairs. I have a glass bottle right next to me, I can use it for drinking, I can break it on your head and cause you damage. Same thing applies to nearly every object we use every day.
yeah pretty much it's standard operating procedure not to make yourself look bad
If you don't do anything wrong you shouldn't have anything to hide.
Who said the ship crew bought that equipment? They could have easily brought cameramen and journalists on board. As far as I remember, one of detainees was a Brazilian filmmaker.
yeah ok if you can afford to deliver support you can afford proper flares. they'd be useless in any sort of nautical emergency as they aren't waterproof(heh b/c this is what flares are for on a boat understand??). what is there to misconstrue about that.
you sure do need a knife for every crew member

How many knives are shown to be found? 10? 15? There were over 600 people on board that ship. They did not come for combat.
10-15 knifes is barely enough to cover the ships cooking galley...
You guys are just trolls.
[editline]02:08PM[/editline]
No proof the IDF shot first.
...
You hear the gunshots.
None of them the passenger had weapons until they took it from the IDF, you support this stance.
And a gunshot went off in your neighborhood, at the same time, you saw a man with a gun approaching a woman's house, and the woman is shot dead after you investigated it.
can't blame the man with the gun approaching the woman's house, you only heard the gunshot, didn't see him fire it.
10-15 knifes is barely enough to cover the ships cooking galley...
600 people to feed. 10-15 is barely enogh to cover it.
Saddest thing, you people think Hamas is a good government for Gaza...
In general, I agree with Gaza being fully independent and whatnot, but Hamas or Fatah are not even close to being a good government, actually, they're complete shit.

No one ever said anything about Hamas being a good ruler, you just think that because we oppose Israel in their actions. Hamas is bullshit, Israel is bullshit and the people in Gaza deserves a hell lot more than both are offering them.

Well, then you're contradicting yourself. You probably have no idea why Israel is doing a blockade to Gaza.

Agree.
The good side is the citizens.

How am I contradicting myself by taking the peoples side? Please elaborate.
Well, then you're contradicting yourself. You probably have no idea why Israel is doing a blockade to Gaza.
I don't think you do either.
The whole point of this blockade is TO WEAKEN HAMAS POWER IN GAZA. Israel sends hundreds of hundreds of trucks in Gaza, why they do that? Because they care about the people.
The only reason why Israel doesn't want anyone other to just come into Gaza unchecked, is because there MIGHT be weapons, explosives etc. on the ship.

That's a pretty good solution, if you starve the people to death Hamas won't have any people to govern, thus lose power.
Also, watch the videos, both of 'em. Maybe something will twitch inside your heads.
