How exactly are you going to defend yourself against 15 people beating the shit out of you with metal poles?
NEWSFLASH-A metal pole to the head can ACTUALLY CAUSE DAMAGE.

No shooting live ammunition for at least 1 minute.
You don't see Somali Pirates board a ship that contains 600 activists on a ideological mission.
Not 10-20 poor crew members trying to make a living by operating a vessle that doesn't even belong to them, but another corperation.
If the ideology is to "aid" the Gaza citizens with morale by being provocative to Israel. Yeah I don't see it every day.
Because nobody does that.
Bullshit. If their original perpose was to deliver aid, they wouldn't have attacked.
lol. Even the most peaceful purpose would exercise self-defense.
Israel said it themselves-They would transfer ALL equipment from the ships to gaza under the supervision of the organizers of the cruise.
Israeli has no authority over Gaza anymore, supposedly. That's like Zimbabwe telling them the same thing, they don't have to listen to them, if they were international waters, and heading to Palestinian/Gazan waters.
lol. Even the most peaceful purpose would exercise self-defense.

If Israel has no authority over Gaza, Israel wouldn't be held responsible over closing borders near it.
Countries are allowed to close borders, nor would it have to follow the rule of aiding Gaza with supplies.
Israel does have authority over Gaza.
Nor should have this boat been there.
And whatever happened prior to them boarding, Soldiers getting raided and outnumbered does justify the use of firearms.
Not only in Israel, but everywhere.
What? Should riot police carry firearms because they're outnumbered?
That's a stupid argument and you should feel ashamed.

Still, legal or illegal, why would they start an event that they know they are going to get injured in if all they want to do is transfer aid to gaza?

So what?
Just because none of the soldiers died doesn't mean what the workers did was right. The soldiers had the right to use live ammunition because no other mean of non-lethal equipment stopped the workers.
Hell, one of the soldiers just woke up from a coma after extensive surgery.

The police does use firearms when they are outnumbered and their anti-riot methods fail.
What? Should riot police carry firearms because they're outnumbered?
Yes.
This is a standerd military and police protocol, every riot police member carries a pistol.

Does it justify using live firearms against people using clubs?
No matter how you see it you cannot compare a gun to metal clubs.
A gun can kill multiple people in seconds.
Fuck your 'standerd's. It's still a wrong thing to do.

OH, so the soldiers should have just let them wail at them with clubs, chairs and knives?
May I remind you they did not use live fire up until 1 minute.
Ever heard of self defence?
Yes.

I think you'll find it's not.
Besides, the IDF had no right to harass the boat anyway... It was a fucking AID boat.
A keyboard, you can do some serious damage with one of those.
/sarcasm
they obviously had just seen Wanted

Taking someones life over getting injured with a club?
Self defence all right.

Ever heard of morals?
I think this subject is getting worn out.
Let's discuss why the fuck they jammed satellite communications and boarded from a helicopter like it was a special ops mission.

The use of firearms is justified when it's the soldier's life at stake, after many had already been seriously injured.
The gun CAN kill multiple people in seconds, but did they do that? No.
Had they been using the firearms inaccurately just to overall deflect the protesters the death toll would stand at hundreds of people.

How is this moral to let people beat you to death?
Still, legal or illegal, why would they start an event that they know they are going to get injured in if all they want to do is transfer aid to gaza?

That is called commendable work.

Look at this-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LulDJh4fWI&feature=related
They threw them to the ground and 30 people bashed their head open with clubs.
Yep, shouldnt defend themselves.

That wouldn't have happend if they hadn't forcefully butt raped the boat.

Who's the man with 100 posts in under 24 hours?
Troll.
Wow, that's your first response?
They killed atleast 9 people in seconds.
Because IDF soldiers almost die.
There were at least 30 people there attacking the soldiers, and all the soldiers started firing as soon as the command was given.
I'm out of this argument.
As long as none of the sides here can be persuaded that they're wrong, this will end nowhere.
If you think that it is because "I realized that I am wrong" so be it.
I think it would be smarter to see what would the investigation render.
If it does show that Israel did attack the boat prior to boarding it (what appears to be peacefully, from footage), and if it does prove that Israel went all violent over the protesters, and not in order to defend the soldiers I will admit being wrong.
I am in no way some kind of right winged pro Israeli person.
I just do believe that in this case Israel is right.
The IDF acted appropriately.
