Best Buy Charging $30 Extra for "Updated" Xbox 360

haha what.
The best buy we have doesn't do that at all.
And that best buy is awesome
I was going to buy my Xbox there, but the lady/man (Neither of us could tell. It sounded and looked like a man and I think had a moustache, but it had lipstick and cleavage. Not fucking kidding.) was a bitch. She was basically yelling at us not to buy it because of RROD, which is nearly fixed anyways. Because of her/it/him I went to EB Games.
Fuck you Best Buy and your gender-mysterious employees.
Also like a week later I was in the city again and decided to make a complaint and I think she's fired now or on suspension.

Oh god what a ripoff. They only configure one online account! For that price my Best Buy did three of them!

For that price you can have a blowjob. From best buy
Best Buy also said this a friend of mine when he was buying a Xbox 360:
Seller: ...and if it ever breaks down, bring it to us and we'll repair it for you for only $60 (Or was it $160? I forgot the price)
Friend: Uhh... Microsoft repair it for free...
Seller: No they don't.
Friend: Yes they do...
Me: Paying $60 (Or whatever the actual price was) to open a console, and replace the crappy heatsink clamps with screws is really worth it. Who cares if it takes microsoft a month to get the console back to you, and replace the key components with newer and much more stable parts when these guys can fix it in less than a day using ghetto ways that works.
Seller: See? Your friend agrees with me.
Me: I was being sarcastic you idiot
they nickle and dime you for all you got.
The ps3 hook up is real too, and if you buy a tv, they offer in home installation for about 20$ when all you do it unbox and plug it in. Then if you want cable hook that up.
is orange park the only city that has a good best buy.
Explains why I got a graphics card for 150$ I could of gotten for 60$ on the internet, the card didn't even fit, at least they refunded my money.
Once, there was this obviously un-tech savvy woman with her son at Best Buy, and they were trying to get their computer fixed at GeekSquad. I saw one of the guys offer them a complete 'reformat so we can get rid of your viruses and make your computer go WAY faster"
I walked up to the counter and told the woman, "Lady, he's offering you a $120 service that you don't even need, and he'll probably go inside your hard drive and steal all your private things at the same time. What's the problem, anyways?"
Guy: "Her computer won't turn on, so if you would excuse us, we're experts, and we know what we're doing."
-I look at the computer on the counter-
I promptly told the lady: "You hear that? They're experts, and they totally know what they doing. Oh and by the way, have you flicked the little switch behind the computer?"
Her: "What switch?"
Me: "The switch that you plug the power into, so the computer will turn on."
Her: "Oh. *to employee* Okay then, I guess we don't need your services. Thanks!"
By this point, the employee was fuming, and I simply walked off feeling incredibly smug.

geek squad is sadly a pile of shit i don't trust them one bit.
Ha ha ha ha.
lol my bro works at Best Buy, but in the warehouse.
Back in the day, I worked at compUSA (lol rhyme) and we'd charge people this same sort of thing for PC's to download all their windows updates. Although the service was OPTIONAL and we didn't just start opening up merchandise willy nilly. This is really stupid of Best Buy. I hope it isn't nation wide.
Geek squad charges these ridiculous prices for no reason other than they can. They also love to charge for free service and simple task you can figure out yourself.
I will sell somebody my 360 with the firmware update... No Extra cost! You will be the king in the castle.

Best buy can officially suck it. That's the dumbest idea I've heard in a LONG time. Honestly, thats just stupid. It only takes me 2 minutes to update the 360 for FREE!!! Well...can't call best buy idiots if people ARE buying this.
I work in a similar store (Office Depot) that offers services like this. We charge up the arse for some things that can be done for free. The software they make us use is available on the internet for free (DeCrapifier, CCleaner, etc.) and they make us charge for sticking in a usb drive and double clicking an exe.
Also, go to Fry's, Best Buy's cheaper, better, non asshole, competitor.
It's worth the extra 20 mile drive.
for me its an extra 100 mile drive, so i'll stick to going to best buy and ignoring anyone in a blue shirt
Thanks to non tech-savy people (:eng99:) this idea isn't bad at all. I don't understand the people saying BB is stupid for doing it.

They charge it because some people actually can't work out this stuff, it is quite laborious to sell such services (in terms of time taken up), and they're in a capitalist free market

Yeah, this is the sad, terrible truth. Everybody's too fucking dumb to learn basic operations on all the technology they buy (from stores that put extreme retail markup on shitty computers). All this technical jargon goes in one ear and out the other and they just pick up key words like "fix" and "hard drive"...which makes them think that this kind of stuff is needed and they pay for it.
It's sad and evil, but in the end it is ENTIRELY the consumer's fault for being too lazy to actually learn how to use the expensive devices they buy. I've always wondered why people get big HDTVs, expensive PCs, and smartphones if they don't fucking have a clue how they work.
I wonder what they'll do after all the old tech-illiterate people are dead.
I wonder what they'll do after all the old tech-illiterate people are dead.
Then they will come out with newer tech for people to be illiterate in.

Not going to happen.
There will allways be new tech for people to be illiterate in...
Also, go to Fry's
enjoy your refurbished hardware
I think this is okay. It' your fault if you don't realize your paying for nothing. Being nerds do come in handy.
I work at bestbuy :(
But I admit, I hate their rip-offs.
